I got new (to me!) 65
I just picked up this 65.
I hope to use it as a daily driver. It is supposed to have a running 283 2bbl, I haven't had a chance to start it yet. It is mostly rust free, the footwells, and the lower fenders are the only spots. I will probably have to find a different passenger bed side, it is a little rough behind the wheel. All the parts for the front clip are in the back, so like a big model truck all I should have to do is assemble and go! Last edited by jonzcustomshop; 03-07-2008 at 08:57 AM. |

Re: I got new (to me!) 65
that isn't the half of it, I got the truck last night, and it was covered with 3 inches of snow (the white stuff!) before I could get pics. then it almost all melted today.
I paid $500 for it,. I hope it isn't too much work, I have a junk 65 parts truck that I can get all the missing bolts from , and I am going out to the wrecking yard tomorrow to look for a new box side. I don't plan on doing much more than drive this one though, although I would like to lower it and change over to 5 lug. |

That is a good deal!!
I noticed the radio also, the '64 I just picked up has the original am radio and an uncut dash, but it is missing the knobs

Re: I got new (to me!) 65
I would take that for $500. You should have seen what I went to look at for $600. Rust and no engine or tranny.

If you need one, I have a pretty nice painted grille that is not rusted or anything.

Re: I got new (to me!) 65
Corner of Reserve and third.... that's like 5 blocks from my place. I'm a block south of river road on Krysty with reserve off my back property line. (west side of reserve). It's the one with the little playhouse and fire pit in the back and the new garage that looks bigger than the house. if the fires on or the back garage door is open the welcome mat is out. beers and dogs by the fire just about every sunday evening once it warms up until the fire season shuts us down.

Re: I got new (to me!) 65
progress !!!
I was waiting to get the title before working on this truck, it came so now I have it almost ready for the road. I worked on the fenders last week, I got two that only needed minor rust repair on the braces and corners. If I had the cash, I would have just bought repros and been done with them , but I have more time than money!\ I found a seafoam green at walmart that almost matches the original blue-green, it is closer to forest service green though, but it is still better than orange, blue, yellow and red! I got a c/60-80 grille at the wrecking yard, it is the same size, you just have to take the letters off the top, and the headlight mount/grillemount had to be switched out with a c/10 I also got a good bedside, and a good tailgate for $125. When I put the battery in every thing worked! Well sort of, I need to put a muffler on it , and I need to undo the trailering (imagine a ball if twine)harness they have in the back. |

Re: I got new (to me!) 65
I like those custom tarp holders on your bedside. When I picked up my bed/trailer it had about 40 snaps with rusty screws to remove!!! 4 doesnt look too bad!
Do you replace the weld on the post in the rear? I changed one side of mine and never have re-welded it......doesnt seem to be a problem. Lookin' good.

Re: I got new (to me!) 65
I think you should paint the whole truck with that stuff and make from the bottom of the windows up white. It looks pretty good and makes me want to get rid of my 79 4x4 and get another 65ish truck.
