Re: Good 70 SWB
Began assembly of the front suspension. Replace upper and lower ball joints, went with 2.5 drop spindles and 1" drop springs. Disc's are new but have some surface rust that should clean off when it hits the road.

Re: Good 70 SWB
Well I am back on my 70 SWB project. I needed more room so built as shop that I could put it in to give it the attention is deserves.
I replaced all the break lines with new SS ones. I now have the frame inside the shop and have put the engine and transmission back in. Next for the chassis, I will be ordering fuel tank and installing SS fuel line. |

Re: Good 70 SWB
I am new to welding so last night I decided I would work on the firewall. I can say I certainly learned a lot putting this patch in... but here are some before and after picts. I was concentrating so much on this I did not get any in progress picts...

Nice truck, nice progress, and you are doing a great job! Are you installing a vintage air kit on it?

Re: Good 70 SWB
I am looking at both Vintage Air and Old Air. I am leaning to the Old air with the electric controls.

Re: Good 70 SWB
Brad,
You may want to check on Old Air. I heard somewhere that they went out of business. Steve

Re: Good 70 SWB
Very nice welding for not having experience! I don't have any body experience but will definately be learning soon. Much different than tool steels and heavy fab that I'm used to. Nice work so far

Re: Good 70 SWB
Finished couple more things over the past couple days. I filled in the holes for the wiring harness connection and also speed odometer cable hole. Now I just need to figure out how I am going to run the wire harness. I am open to ideas!!

Re: Good 70 SWB
Had a small hole under the drip edge. I got it cut out using a dremmel tool and was able to bend a piece to fit back.
Got a little more grinding to do but overall it should do the job. |

Re: Good 70 SWB
I bought a cab with the firewall shaved, so I am also curious of how to run the wiring. Also what do you plan on doing for an E- Brake and Spedo cable?

Re: Good 70 SWB
Wiring is still in planning but looking at the option to run the wire harness through the open air vent the up under the drivers fender. Probably run the spedo cable through similar location. As for the E-brake since I will be just removing it.

Re: Good 70 SWB
Be sure to take plenty of pics of how you run the wires. Don't you have to have an E-Brake to get an inspection sticker? Keep up the good work.

Re: Good 70 SWB
Cut out the radio and ashtray from the dash and filled it in. I will be installing a 2 Din DVD,NAV,CD Audio system and also the After market AC vent in this area.
Cut out the entire section. Easier for me to fill this way. Got a nice fit and after grinding down the welds looks pretty good. Now just need measurements for the 2 Din Audio system and AC vent to cut them out. |
