Re: Extended Cab AD
I lengthened my doors 3" & it looks great. There is now room inside the cab for a big person. I also chopped the top 3 1/2".

Re: Extended Cab AD
Wow, Don, quite the build. I like the bed side fins and how you incorporated it to the back of the cab. Nice details.

Re: Extended Cab AD
Yes the pics in the second link start at Dads house and move through three different shop buildings. Two out breaks of cancer made the project much longer than it could have been. Jay

Re: Extended Cab AD
looks good like it could have came that way. it would be cool if you could get those wrap around rear glass and extend them so you wouldnt have the blind spot from your extension

Re: Extended Cab AD
My reason for stretching mine the 9-1/4 -9-1/2 inches I want a lot more comfort for the road. I've had the longbed frame for years and the stretch will depend on the differences in wheel base between longbed and shortbed trucks.
I'm using my stock shortbed box. |

Re: Extended Cab AD
I'm working on the frame right now to get it up to a rolling chassis so I can bolt the cab that will provide the cowl and front half of the extended cab solid before I start cutting. This has been in the back of my head for years so a little bit more won't be an issue.
We intend to stretch the doors first and then do the cab to match the doors as far as door gaps go. My buddy wants to split the back of the cab and widen it to keep the angle o the door sills the same all the way back. The jury is still out on that. Right now the blasted daily driver econo box is holding up progress due to a transaxle problem. 30 mpg comes at a cost. |
