Re: You might say this truck got smoked...
no. one is a random pic and it happened to have a 69-72 in it. the pic of the melted dash is an actual forum member's truck (who apparently lived a bit close to the blast zone!)

Re: You might say this truck got smoked...
I lived in eastern wa but was over here in Kent wa staying at my cosins looking for work when it went off, 2 of my cosins were home, i was asleep in my bed when it went off and they didn't even bother waking me! I was just a little bummed to say the least. I remember watching the news and seeing the pic's of that truck.
I was stuck on the west side for 2 weeks after that, i finally tryed to head over the pass and the cop tryed to turn everyone around on the freeway, i looked at him and said hey i live in e-burg and i gotta get home sometime, i've been stuck over here for 2 weeks allready, he let me go ahead and head over. It was really dusty over there and yakima, the news casters kept saying don't hose the stuff down but after a couple weeks the people just said to hell with that and started hoseing the stuff down and eventually the dust finally started to settle and blow away.

Re: You might say this truck got smoked...
I remember Mt. Helens very well. It blew on my 31st birthday, May18/1980 and although I live 11/1200 miles from the volcano we dealt with smoke and ash for week after the eruption.

I'll never forget that day. That morning I was at my folk’s house in Maple Valley, WA (I lived right up the road in Ravensdale) where, the previous night, my Mom, Dad, my fiancé and I spent the evening glued to my folks TV. The next morning, instead of the family party we had planned, began days of cleaning, capping chimneys, taping the door and window seams and rolling cheesecloth around our vehicle’s air cleaners. My Dad had a gas station and I remember him coming back from a supply run with boxes of cheese cloth and dust masks, to give to his customers. The sky was such an eerie color I was truly afraid every time I stepped out the door. We were very lucky the brunt of the ash fallout had traveled away from us, though we got plenty. Nasty stuff, like gritty talc. We spent over a week at Mom and Dad’s, just going home Sunday evening to get the dog, cats, my horses and the chickens hunkered indoors safely. A truly unforgettable time in my life! Great link Livrat! |

Re: You might say this truck got smoked...
I would say it's a 69 or 70 by the front grill. Possibly a GMC, but the headlight bezel looks a little too small.
