Re: '71 Burb Build "The Family Car"
I got out and became an electrician. Went through more apprenticeship training, and starting on the bottom again, but it was a good decision that I never regretted. Much better retirement too!

Re: '71 Burb Build "The Family Car"
Haven't really done any work to the burb the past week except for checking the vitals. I was suppose to pick up a 283 over the weekend but the dude jacked me around, f'n punk!! I was really looking forward to building it just for hell sakes, oh well. Here's a quick pic I snapped at work on sunday. The burb is full of band gear from the night before!

Re: '71 Burb Build "The Family Car"
283's make a great basis for a hotrod engine! Built one years ago for my '55 Chev gasser that would pull the front wheels on launch. They reaally wind up there! Too bad the deal fell through.

Yes and no. I topped my fluids off and cleaned my battery and tray. I just poured water after I was done to clean up the mess.

Re: '71 Burb Build "The Family Car"
Well I blew a heater hose on the way to work today. I swear it was the original hose it had the old style clamps and was so brittle and hard. Once I got my new hose and clamps on I topped off my antifreeze and thats when I saw my tire was completely flat then it started raining like crazy. Wow what a great day but I guess I was somewhat productive on my burb today haha. I'm just glad it happened at work and not out on highway or something.

Re: '71 Burb Build "The Family Car"
While at work yesterday I was standing around twiddling my thumbs because we were so dead. I looked across the street at auto zone and saw another land yacht pull in so I hurried and jumped in mine and drove over there. Its not everyday you see another burb especially in my neck of the woods. I pulled up and said nice burb man! He said no you got a nice burb man! His is a 68 gmc with a 350 and 4 speed its a sweet rig! After work I took the burb on a little road trip to Wyoming to get some good beer that is not available here in Utah. hehe shhhhh don't tell anyone

Re: '71 Burb Build "The Family Car"
I been debating on getting some new wheels for my burb. I really like the salt flat specials and have always wanted to put them on a rig. What do you dudes think? Any other suggestions?

I've always liked them on anything older! They're a classic style wheel.

Re: '71 Burb Build "The Family Car"
Ran into some touble the other day. The burb had started to shake real bad and I could feel something shift when coming to a stop So I got it on a rack at work and found my carrier bearing had pretty much blown up. Lucky for my buddy at oreily's got the part and I got her rolling again. Changing the carrier wasn't too bad except my ujoints did not want to coperate. Who ever changed it last is my kind of guy he antiseized the crap out of it.

Re: '71 Burb Build "The Family Car"
Quick update as I haven't been on lately. I haven't really done anything to the burb lately except put gas in it and drive it to work and gigs but why would I update those 3 of you that care about nothing? That is the is question and heres the answer. I scored big over the weekend and Got a set of wheel vintiques smoothies new in the boxes powder coated white for 150 bucks!!!!! They are 15x7 and 15x8. I just need some center caps and I'll be rolling in style. Enjoy

Nice wheels! Some polished stainless caps and rings would really set them off!

Re: '71 Burb Build "The Family Car"
235-70-15 front and 255-70-15 rear. I don't know which center caps to get yet. I'm debating on moons, bowtie moons, bullets or spider caps. Any thoughts?

Looks really good! Since you asked...I'd try bullets with bullet lug nuts and a small trim ring. That'd look sweet!
