Re: Best tow hitch
I do need a set of rear sport bumper brackets for a longbed fleetside 2wd coil spring setup before I do a write up on the install though so i get the proper measurement on where to drill the holes in the framerail.

Re: Best tow hitch
Curt,Reese and Cyquent are some good hitches also. They should have any hitch for our trucks. How ever you have to now go with a 73-86 hitch to get one to fit.
Guys please don't pull nothing bigger than a 20' trailer behind a 1/2 ton on the interstate at interstate speeds. I have seen my share of bad wrecks. No lites, trailer not loaded rite, you name it.I always say 24'-30' should go on 3/4 ton and any thing larger on 1 ton.Call me crazy if you like but I want to be safe and the one's around me. It would kill me to hurt someones family if stupidity on my part. I have 10 years in the camper and towing industry also.Amongst a few other things. |

I couldn't agree with you more! I get the heaviest duty accessories I can for the equipment that I have, not so I can max out it's capacity but so that the loads I do pull are better managed.

Re: Best tow hitch
The hidden hitches behind the license plate would get me a ticket here as the plate would not be visible when the receiver is in

Re: Best tow hitch
If you use a flip bracket then the plate flips up flat and sits on the receiver and is still considered visible and mounted correctly.

Re: Best tow hitch
I know this is old but I see your still active here. I notice you had to remove your plate bracket to mount your hitch. Im running into the same issue. Im pretty aggravated about this.

Re: Best tow hitch
At the point I took that picture, I had not installed my plate or bracket yet. to take the bracket off I believe it is 4 bolts... pretty simple in my mind... Also you will have to trim it to allow the receiver to come out, then with a flip up bracket installed in the upside down from OEM design the license plate will be bent around the receiver the last 3/16" and will be visible and legal. To install this hitch you will be drilling 4-6 holes depending on how you line your hitch up under the rear of the frame.
