Best tow hitch
I'm looking to put a hitch on my lowered 67 to haul the race car every now and then. What is the best option? Are there other ones besides the early classic one?

Got mine from U-Haul. Brand new, custom made (72 K5), fit perfect. @ $250.

Re: Best tow hitch
I love my Early Classic hidden hitch. The receiver is behind the license plate so the hitch is tucked up to the frame and you barely see it. I have used it for moderate towing and havent had a problem yet.

Re: Best tow hitch
I was worried about the hitch interfering with my blazer gas tank that I have behind the axle but I just got off the phone with Mark from early classic and he was very very helpful! He went and measured one for me and he says the hitch lines up with the back of the frame and extends 11 inches forward which is PERFECT since the gas tank is 13 inches forward. Heck I may buy one just based on how helpful he was.

Re: Best tow hitch
The ECE hitch wont work for a race trailer and car.... its only rated to 5000 lbs and I know the trailer and car that I pull is closer to 7500lbs

Re: Best tow hitch
I'm not saying that they are not great people, and they do carry a lot of great products, it is just that a class 3 isnt heavy enough for a race trailer. And as far as pulling a trailer that big, I use my ext cab s10 to pull mine occasionally and it does just fine, stopping and accelerating. I wouldnt think twice about a full size 1/2 ton with a 355 backed by a 700r4 pulling a race trailer. either way to each his own

Re: Best tow hitch
My car weighs 2,850 lbs and the trailer is a 16 foot open trailer with a wood floor, I'm sure it doesn't weigh more than 2,000 lbs. So Im not really worried

Re: Best tow hitch
Yep! 34" framerail outside to outside. I talked with one of the engineers today at curt gave him the frame rail dimensions that he needed and he took the dimensions off of another hitch for the proper drop for it to come out behind the license plate in the bottom center. He said it will fit properly and is safe to use for the rated amount with our trucks. I ordered mine today it should be in next week. I will take photos of the install when I get it in.
