Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
Any way to "satin clear" over the chrome center caps?
I've never seen any polished Chevy wheel centers. I would just run GMC caps.

Can you fill in the gmc on the caps? Like gringoloco did on his wheels.

Imposter! Dang it's sexy though...and now I know what mine will look like with color-matched mirror caps. Thanks!
BTW, got a corvette servo installed tonight for some snappy shifting. When I was done I cruised through town late...the kiddies were out with their mustangs. We're not ready to eat them yet but that day will come!

Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
Leevon,... any chance the centercaps from the new Camaro wheels will work in your GMC 20's?
They appear to be polished and not chrome. http://stlouis.craigslist.org/pts/3881685987.html

Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
Nice truck! Those wheels look great. Also, I've always liked the gmc chrome molding and thought about adding it to mine a while back. Theres some pics on google images of silverados with the molding on it.

Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
I think the camaro center caps are maybe 2 1/4 and mine are 3 1/4. I like the satin clear idea...or maybe scuff/satin clear.
I did the free "extra legroom mod" yesterday which involved the very frustrating task of removing a 1/2" socket from inside the driver's seat track. It was really wedged in there and took a BFH and a very long screwdriver to dislodge. I gues it never bothered the PO or he never figured out how to get it out. Anyhow I slid back two more notches. At my size I need all the space I can get! I think the front end needs to come down another 1" at least, thoughts?

Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
Am I mistaken, or is that an HD hood? Pretty sure regular hoods aren't anywhere near that tall.
See? Much shorter, non-HD hood. Yours has a Silverado HD hood.

The 2006/7 hoods had a different profile.

Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
Im 99% sure that's an HD hood and grill. Which looks good on regular cabs, lots of people converting to HD front ends lately.

Looking good!! I want some of those wheels so bad for my 05 GMC. Do you still have plans to replace the rollpan?
That's not the real Si and Willie, though.

Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
"Almost" Uncle Si and Willie were just look-alikes from a contest this weekend. They looked more realistic in public and from different angles. Si had the ponytail, Willie had the right clothes. They are related and they go to Wal-Mart sometimes and people get all fired up believe it or not! A bearded guy I know dressed like Jase with waders and looked good too. It was all pretty entertaining.
I am going to ditch the rollpan for a factory bumper. Any takers?

Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
Thanks! NICE truck, looks like it has an attitude.
I think the roll pan looks great actually, but my taste is more of a "factory custom" kind of look. I also think about re-sale value when I mess with my trucks. I think the roll pan appeals to a narrower crowd. Just my .02. I'll do things like swap it for a bumper, get new headlights and take care of a ding in the hood so if/when I get bored and sell it, I'll get top dollar.

Mine that I'm trading off is an LS twin to that one, in a crew cab. My new one is on here... Somewhere.... I get it in 2 weeks. Looks good, I like the new wheels. find someone that wants its twin in a crew!

Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
Need some pics Elco!
I haven't done much to the truck other than drive it. Took a road trip to the lake a couple weeks back and it was a blast to drive, got about 18mpg round trip too. I ordered some shock extenders for the rear, and once installed will follow those up with some properly spec'd Monroes. Currently it bottoms out hard on dips and I'm tired of the puckered-butthole driving. The battery crapped out two weeks ago, it was original so no surprise there. I also had to replace the high mount third brake light which was cracked and leaking and a headlight at the same time. Next I have to figure out where the windshield is leaking and the rattle under the dash is coming from...then all the "little" things will be done~! Maintenance is no fun but I am hooked on the feeling you get when you take a used truck and make it perfectly reliable and comfortable by killing all the little things that 99% of people ignore. I've discovered that this impacts the re-sale value greatly too! When they see how anal I am the trucks sell themselves. I scored an '07-up jumpseat on Craigslist for $75 today! It is a direct swap. They are routinely $300 on Ebay for all model years.

Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
Leevon can you tell me about shock extenders, as I too am tired of this thing hitting the bottom.
I think the rear end needs to be raised a inch or two as there is not much clearance between the axle and frame................... can you say c notch or longer rear shackles

Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
Do you have a 4" drop in the rear like mine? It only leaves about 2-3" of clearance.
A c notch is the best solution but shock extenders correct the angle of the bottom mount and allow your shocks to work properly. Together with a set of the correct length gas shocks (stock, not drop shocks) the ride is always better. I measure then cross reference the Monroe chart and find a light truck shock with the correct mounting and length. Best price on the extenders: http://www.autoanything.com/suspensi...3A3771151.aspx

Re: Project "Rebound" 2006 RCSB
Check the steering linkage. Mine does the same thing. These trucks were common for the linkage to rattle. A new steering arm set is around $100-130.
