interested also. i wouldnt mind swapping gauges. I have a guage cluster now but will be using gmc pauls trick to convert to 6 guage set up and will need to convert to volt gauge

Re: Gauging interest on "volt gauge conversion kits for 67-72 gauge clusters.
It is a debate that is older than dirt and I for one cannot confirm or deny what AAW recommends. My job is to offer a volt meter conversion kit for those who feel that they need or want one.

Yes it will come with the wiring needed for the conversion. It is fairly simple overall which is a good thing. I will let everyone know when I post some photos of the kit. Thank you for the interest. Tom

Wow,
I am going to have to find more volt gauges soon. Thank you everyone for the responses to this. I had a feeling it would be something of interest. Bare with me while I get everything in order to sell the kits. I wish it was the only thing I had going on It won't be long. Take care, Tom

EVERY electrical gauge you will ever see is an ammeter, or you wouldn't get an indication of the value (temp, fuel level, etc.) If it reads voltage, it carries current, end of story. That is how they work. By electrical gauges, I mean those that don't have a Bourdon tube, like mechanical oil pressure or temperature gauges.

Re: Gauging interest on "volt gauge conversion kits for 67-72 gauge clusters.
Guys Tom is offering an alternative to the ammeter.
Regardless if there is a hazard or not the AAW classic update kit does not support an ammeter. So if you want to modify your AAW harness have at it, I choose to install as recommended to avoid any issues with the harness warranty etc. If you want to debate the ammeter vs volt meter thing start your own thread and leave this one for its intended purpose which is to offer a choice. Regards Ken

I'd be interested in one, as I'm installing my AAW kit right now.

Do you offer a new bezel incremented with Volts rather than C and D (Charge and Discharge)? If not, the voltmeter tells us less than the original gauge. I suspect the gauge works as originally intended after a rewire, but the AAW rep was thinking of a Chrysler system. If all that's needed is a meter movement that does something but provides no meaning all is well. If gauges should tell us something, more info is needed. Re: Gauging interest on "volt gauge conversion kits for 67-72 gauge clusters.
This should be really great and stock looking with the original face. While it won't give an incremented scale a little use will tell you where it "should be". Then a glance with tell you if its low or high.

Re: Gauging interest on "volt gauge conversion kits for 67-72 gauge clusters.
Hey Tom!
I think I might like to go with a volt gauge in Greenie if it would look ‘stockish’ so I’m subscribing to see what you got. Franken is mostly correct. The GM system is safe if the fuses are not eliminated or replaced with larger current value fuses. If they are, the damage will be to the printed circuit for the instrument cluster and possibly the amp gauge itself as they will let the smoke out. Chrysler – that’s a different animal and has the potential for issues period. I know you know this, but for other members who may not - the GM amp gauge is a shunt type system and Chyrsler's amp gauge was a full load current type of system. Hope you and your family have a great Christmas!

I can tell you buy the positioning of the needle that the volt reading will be at 13 volts when the needle is in the middle of the scale. Hope you have a good Christmas. Take care, Tom

I do now understand after doing some research that it is unlikely that they amp gauge can cause a fire in our trucks. And yes as Franken stated, it is protected by the 4 amp fuses on both sides. For that reason, I have removed my statement stating such. If you have bought a wiring kit from AAW and it instructs that the wiring kit does not support the use of an amp gauge, then I for one cannot argue that. I will be more than happy to get you set up with a volt gauge conversion. Stay tuned for a thread in the for sale section. I hope you and your family have a great Christmas as well Wayne. Thank you for support and input. It is appreciated. Take care, Tom

Subscribed. I'll be changing to volt meter when I rewire my 68 with AAW's kit. I'll be looking for your volt kit.

Please respond with "I will take one" or send me a PM. Also please let me know if you would like the factory amp gauge face or the 76+ volt gauge face. In either case, I use the original amp gauge needle. I hope all of you have a great new year. Thank you again for those who have purchased one of my kits. Take care, Tom

I am definitely interested as I'll be installing an AAW kit in the spring.
