Re: 1 of 1 truck?
Aside from the desert southwest, 4x4,s, expecially K20's in good original condition, often exceed 2x4 swb's in same condition.

Re: 1 of 1 truck?
That c30 is cool, and I have to say I'm tempted with that 9 ft stepside bed to do a c30 4x4 someday....

Re: 1 of 1 truck?
I like it. Nice truck all in all. If it were K20 my knees would be a little weak.
So...this being a long stepper bring my mind to the question...is there such a model as a longhorn stepper?

Re: 1 of 1 truck?
No, not really. But they did make a c-30 long stepper that had a 9 ft bed. All c-30's were 2x4 from the factory, to my knowledge, however there were a few NAPCO 4x4 conversions on them...and I believe one other company did the 4x4 conversions as well, but I can't place the name of them....also they did make c-20 4x4 long steppers. I had one with the 292 and eaton rear, wish I never sold it....I found this one trying to replace it....mine didn't have marker lights on the cab like this one though.

Re: 1 of 1 truck?
Always nice to find one that is "unique/rare". Although, I'd argue that a pristine (original survivor) plain janer w/3 entries on the SPID has more value than a restored truck.
Pic of my 70 CST 1/2 ton LWB w/cab roof lights. 1/2 tons (LWBs) w/the cab lights...just doesn't get much cooler than that and waaaaaaay cooler than one of those stubby out-of-proportion looking short trucks. |

Re: 1 of 1 truck?
I'm sure glad to see other guys who appreciate a real man's truck, a longbed or a longhorn,or a long stepside are real trucks, not cars without a trunk lid, shortbed are a dime a dozen I have no idea why they get so pumped up about them, and then they want to lower then and make them look worst.like someone eles said wish they would stick with cars . and then you have these guys take a nice 3/4 ton and put 5 lug wheels on it and lower it,I just don't get it..real trucks should be long and tall.well anyway that my opinion, I know most won't agree with me, but aleast there are a few that do.we are rare like the rare trucks we like.

Re: 1 of 1 truck?
You guys are hilarious. Trucks are trucks, short, long, step, fleet, 2wd, 4wd, cab and chassis or any other version. They are all awesome and they all have their uses. Some work hard, some work less and some don't work at all. Every one of these trucks means something different to its owner.
I don't get the need to insult one over the other. There are things that I like and there are things that I don't. But I don't feel the need insult what others like in order justify what I like. Mixed in with these thread about original or out of the norm trucks there is always a few members who take the opportunity to jump in and trash the other ones.

A CST 402BB - Turbo 400 - Buckets - Factory AC - and so on would be worth more money than just a SWB truck. Now a SWB truck with the above options - Yes it would likely be more desirable although I like LWB trucks. Come to think about it I like all the trucks whether its a SWB or LWB

Re: 1 of 1 truck?
I don't feel that insulting anyone. it just everyboby has there own opinion and it good to know some have the same opinion.everybody has there own trucks and can do what they want with them, it's just some of us don't understand why.didn't really mean to hijack the thread, just wanted to say what I was thinking. sorry if that afends anyone.it just my opinion.

Re: 1 of 1 truck?
so did we ever figure out if someone was actually able to run down a model # to production numbers? Sounds like that is a yes. Would like for that resource to be shared por favor As previously stated, I don't believe there's any way to ascertain 1of1 status when it comes to options (or x of any x status, for that matter). But we do know nice when we see it. K10 long steps are rare as model number rarity points out, and the more options the better. It COULD be 1 of 1, but since there is no way to really prove it, I'd shy away from that and stick with what is known for sure. It really doesn't matter in the long run. The guy that requested the 1 of 1 cigarette lighter delete on his Hemi Cuda wasn't really thinking about rarity, he probably just didn't smoke...

Around here factory 4x4's and Shortboxes are like hens teeth. Anything we do find was usually born and raised stateside or so beat up its not worth saving. So for me and my truck friends up here they're all rare.

Re: 1 of 1 truck?
Given the amount of options on various configurations - 1/2SWB, 1/2LWB, 2wd,4wd etc I'd say there are a lot of 1 of 1 trucks out there & we all know rarity doesn't mean valuable. I've got a 1 of 1 vehicle in existance but don't mean anything really lol

Re: 1 of 1 truck?
So I called the 2nd owner about the paint stripe...his neighbor was the original owner from 70-74. 2nd owner bought it from him in 74....he said original owner had the dealer do some things to it before he picked it up....I'm guessing he had the dealer buff out the stripe because he never saw it on there. I looked for evidence of the stripe, because sometimes you can see where it was with the right light, but no dice. Now I'm curious if anyone has pics of the stripe on a stepside, long or short....I've seen the fleet side ones, but stepsides I've seen with trim don't have trim on the bed, just wondering if anyone knows if the paint stripe would have gone on the bed.
P.S. For those lowered trucks, I'm not usually a fan...but they do look sweet sitting still..I'd hate to drive one on most roads I know though which is why I would never own one lower than 2wd stock.... I love all trucks..well except for some other makes, but I prefer these long steps tall and wide, just can't bring myself to modify this one yet....everyone has their own preference but when they are done and you can see what a man has in it almost all of them are awesome in their own way. |
