Re: Making a bed floor lift up
They seem like they collapse down smaller. Do they elongate more as well? Great job.

Re: Making a bed floor lift up
Jan, nice design on the hinges. Do they lift the bed as much as you might want?

Re: Making a bed floor lift up
Do you think if we notch it, then it would lock in the up position so you wouldnt need struts or a prop rod?

Re: Making a bed floor lift up
Jocww drove the two hrs to my house yesterday and we cut some out with the plasma. I’m going to check with a friend who has a lot of parts cut for him on a water jet a see if that is a viable option. It takes some work to finish them when cut with the plasma which is fine when making one set but a little more labor intensive than I’d like.
I will pm you

Re: Making a bed floor lift up
Ok so here’s where I’m at on the hinges. Friday I went and dropped off the prototype hinge with the engineer and he is doing a CAD drawing for me, then I will send it to send-cut-send in Nevada to be water jetted for me.

Re: Making a bed floor lift up
That could be a benefit for you and everyone that really likes your Hard work and planning.
The Set-Up takes the most time. Then once it is set up and the (supplier of the part) knows you want multiple parts. They can run the same program and make a-lot of these. For example : They could buy a 4x8 sheet of material. Then use there Software to cut the parts out. 1 Sheet of material/ 1 setup Then they can name the program( NorCalGal O1277) That way when you call them they could reproduce some more. Just food for thought Hope this helps . .

Re: Making a bed floor lift up
Going to call and get a quote sometime this week. I will probably do like Getter-Done said and get multiples cut at once if the $ isn’t too much.

Re: Making a bed floor lift up
So I got my quote back on getting my hinges cut today more than I thought it would be,but apparently steel prices are way up right now $120 for a set ouch. Oh well I’ve come this far! I will post some pictures when I receive them.

Re: Making a bed floor lift up
Actually that's not too bad for your Great design,
If you factor How many pieces are in a kit? There looks to be 14 in just the pivot section. That not factoring the pieces that mount them to the bed, Maybe 8 more pieces? Even at 14 pieces =$8.57 each. If it is 22 pieces that's just $5.45 each. Just food for Thought. Great Idea. Maybe if you get enough orders it can push the price down. The Question I would ask them is: How many sets can you cut out of a 4x8 sheet of metal? Hope this helps .
