Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I got the cowl covers all welded into one piece and started sand blasting them. I am going to cut out the cowl grill and smooth it next.
The pics turned out terrible. Will take more soon. After smoothing I will start on the inner fenders and radiator support. Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
replaced my single pot master cylinder with a dual. New lines, hoses, cylinders and shoes. Nothing too thrilling, but it's what I did. ;-)
Man do I hate bleeding brakes. Do not buy the Mityvac 8500. It just doesn't work well for bleeding. |

Cut a piece of plate that will just cover the top of your master cylinder, drill & tap a hole in the middle of the plate to 1/4" pipe thread, Clamp the plate to the master cylinder using a couple of small C clamps or light chains with long threaded bolts that will fit between the chain links & nuts and cinch down, install a small regulator & gauge with a quick connect, run an air hose from your compressor to the regulator and set the regulator to 10 PSI MAX!! Start bleeding your system but don't let the master run dry. Check it often. I know, if you can't get your hands on all the junk needed to do this it sure doesn't help you much. But it sure makes bleeding the brakes an easy task. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I'm new to this board and loving every minute here. Thank you to everyone for their posts, been researching ideas since deciding to get a project going. My new toy is a 65 SWB Stepper, she arrived home yesterday morning and by the next evening I went from assembled truck to partially disassembled. Pulled the bed, hood, and front fenders. Tomorrow, get the remainder of the front cap off, and gut the interior.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thanks for the welcome and encouragement, and the truck was originally purchased here locally by the Public School System. I have the original Protect-O-Plate and bought the truck without an engine and someone had installed a TH350 tranny. Buying a 91 350 and plan on a 5 speed stick. A friend has a donor 84 for suspension, planning on swapping to the newer Diff and getting dropped springs for front and rear. Lots of pics are part of the process.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I finished assembling my front suspension today - well with the exception of the calipers and ceramic pads. I bought a complete suspension out of an 85 C10 over a year ago, I took it to work, broke it down, steam cleaned it, pressed out the old lower ball joints & all the bushings, media blasted everything, painted it all, pressed in new Poly bushings & new lower ball joints (thank goodness we have a 100 ton press at work) I took the pieces back home for final reassembly, it's too hard to move in one piece. I added CPP 2 1/2" drop spindles & CPP 6 lug rotors, I used Raybestos Professional Grade Ball Joints, Moog standard rate springs & the control arm bushings are Energy Suspension pieces, the sway bar is 1 1/4" & came from a 1 ton 76 truck, all in all I've got over $1,000.00 wrapped up in this and I don't know when I'll get around to getting it all installed. Oh, I even made a little stand for the suspension saddle that just fits my floor jack so I can pick it up, move it around & jack it into place by myself. (In theory anyway)

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Nice progress. That's going to be a nice upgrade once it's in the truck. I had a similar stand under mine made of wood that allowed me to move it around with a jack. Certainly was convenient.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Mark,
Thanks for the good words. I sure hope it rides well when done. Everything is new, even the bearings, spindle nuts, washers & dust caps. I'm hoping I'll be long dead and buried before it wears out and it will be someone eleses problem. (One of the grandkids LOL) |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
...added about 20 pounds of weight to the cab yesterday. I figured since I will no longer be drag racing the truck, I might as well make it more comfortable...
