Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
This one would qualify without the drop kit, wheel change and auto trans lever on floor conversion. I don't mind the auto conversion, but do it right with a factory column! https://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Chevro....c100667.m2042 Leave an original alone, IMO, cheesy wheels and a drop, don't increase the value of an already rare hard to find original 3/4 ton.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
The trailer, and the sellers business, tells me he is a flipper. Personalizing a vehicle to your own taste is obviously your right, but bragging about how original it is when its time to flip after questionable modifications were made is a major turn off.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Why,why, why??? Somebody needs to buy this and save it's C 20 soul. Put the suspension back where it's supposed to be on a C 20, get rid of the wannabe racer floor shift. I do like those wheels on these trucks, maybe painted black or a darker color.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
I wouldn’t call those rims cheesy, they look like splits. I would call mags or wagon wheel spokes cheesy. Yes fix the suspension, get rid of that silly automatic and it could be a nice truck. I have been looking for an original early GMC for close to 50 years. I found one once but couldn’t afford it. I have had a couple that were very used, abused, and rusty, and I was able to fix, but as stated before restored and original are two different things. So to those who have an original truck consider yourself very fortunate. I also think it’s criminal when a kid decides to modify one. But as an admirer of stock original vechicles thats my opinion.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
yes, it could ALL be fixed, but one has to pay a premium price up front to get what "was" a very nice truck and then unscrew all the mistakes the seller made for additional $. If it were $6K, then yes, after a total $10K investment, one would have a very nice, re-original 65 C20. Now, at the asking price, you'd almost be at $17.5K to get it back to where it was before it got all messed up. That's what is frustrating. The seller would have made more profit if he'd never touched it at all.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
maybe they aren't splits could be just beauty rings, at any rate better than so called custom rims. I would think that if you were just trying to flip something it would be better just to clean it up and make it run good, you can't customize something for someone else, especially someone like me.

Sad but true. Are we all done finding survivors out there?
Another member recently posted a shot of this beaut in the "ugly snout" thread. post # 213. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...=563978&page=9 I was hoping he'd help this thread along with some fresh content for the all-original crowd. C'mon pal, we need you! Lol. |

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
My neighbours 64 3/4 ton. Bought from original owner in the 80's. All original paint, 283, auto, ps, pb, factory clock on dash. He has the correct air cleaner and hub caps for the 15" split rims. Camper is a 66.

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Thanks for posting 60-66. That one is in the time capsule class. But, wouldn't the rims still be painted blue on this tu tone job, even if it was built in Canada?

Re: most original 60-66 truck in existence?
Picked this one owner, original paint 1964 C10 down near San Antonio, TX yesterday.
Truck was originally bought new in 1963 in Bandera, TX by a rancher. Lived its whole life the area. Looks like it was parked inside most of the time. Old rancher passed away and his family sold off his estate. Came with a copy of original title and all the registration cards up to the 80s. Fired right up and drove on the trailer for its 65 mile trip back up to Austin. At some point she got some 7.5/16s which actually look better than the 15s. Adam's Chevrolet in Bandera, TX isnt there anymore. Anyone have any info on it? Last edited by 13jraven; 03-14-2021 at 10:46 AM. |
