93 Cadillac DeVille
These are out of a 93 Cadillac Deville.
I want to "french" them into the stake pockets next to the tailgate at some point. I was quoted about $400 to have that done by a local body shop guy and I have to supply all the parts. These don't look that bad right where they are. I need a chrome rear "dress bumper" to finish it off. |

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?
'50 Pontiac Tail lights, flush mounted in the '66 reverse light locations. Perfect fit. And they really clean up the boat trailer brake light look of the original.

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?
A friend had a 62 that had single 65 impala tailights Frenched in way towards the outside so half was deep and half was almost flush. Looked good- wish I had a pic but that was 20 years ago...

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?
wow, lots of great ideas here. I'm kind of mad at myself, I looked at a 66 yesterday and it never occurred to me to take some pics with my phone. It has a pair of flush mount trailer lights mounted vertically on each side, maybe about a 3x8 size. One is red and one is yellow. Not the most attractive thing, but pretty nicely done, and would be a breeze to change it to led. I wouldnt go to all the trouble of filling the holes and doing something different. Maybe if I go back I'll remember to take some pics.
I'm really annoyed right now that I didn't, because after looking at all these fenders, I am halfway convinced this truck had the wrong stepside fenders on it. If I had a pic I could tell. Somebody painted it with tape and spraycans in a "day after 9/11" American flag theme, so the red and white stripes are thoroughly distracting. It also doesn't have a rear bumper, it has a rollpan. Which would be sort of okay with me, except they went nuts on the whole truck with louvers, including the tailgate and rollpan. I hate louvers, just never 'got' them.

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?
I was right, it stuck in my head all day so I went back to take another look. Something was bugging me in the back of my mind, sure enough, it looks like a 73-87 stepside bed, (or at least fenders). I dont know how I feel about it now, I was kind of psyched that the bed was in such nice shape, the only steel work was going to be the door bottoms and the bottom of the front fenders. It's probably still ok for a DD/ crusie night truck, but it would probably bug me too much, knowing it's wrong. Especially since I'd rather it was a fleetside anyway. But to buy a truck and add one more big thing like a bed to the list, thats probably a deal-killer. This bed is in excellent condition though, maybe somebody with a 73-87 stepside would be willing to buy it so I could get a 66 short/fleet...
Anyway, here's what the lights look like.

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?
Those are aftermarket truck and trailer lights made by either Trucklite or Peterson Mfg. They do come in LED's also.

Re: any good stepside tail light Ideas ?
How about an early 70's Gremlin tail light mounted vertically? I've seen it on a 73 Step Side and it looked like it was factory. You have the tail/brake light, back up light & reflector all rolled up into one package. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the truck I saw it on.

Wha?!? Have you ever seen that truck? It's military themed, the PT-57. The tail lights are modeled after a rank insignia. That truck is beyond badass!
