That is funny, I picked my 12 yr old daughter and a friend up in my '63 a few weeks ago...the friend asked "why is everything metal in here?" and "how do I roll the window down?"(she had never been in a vehicle without power windows!!)

Then the best was when she asked if I would pick them up in it everytime!

You know you have an old truck when you can't lock the doors from the inside... (which for me really means you can't lock your keys in the truck)

You know you have an old truck when you have to go to about ten different hardware stores until you realize that only an ancient True Value or Ace Hardware that's been in biz for 40 years or so and has the old guy in the key shop that happens to have a small stash of old GM key blanks in order to get some dupe keys cut for your ride....

You know you have an old truck if you have to explain to the passenger how to adjust the seat belts because they don't retract automatically.... and have to point out "no, no there is not a shoulder belt".

You know you have an old truck when your passenger asks "what is that sloshing noise I hear behind the seat??"

You know you have an old truck if its turn signals were "optional"...

You know you have an old truck if engaging the parking brake has nothing to do with using your foot...

And last but not least, You KNOW you have an old truck id part of your transmission's name is "granny"....

finding new parts is more trouble than what it takes changing them on your truck

Most of these relate to owning an old truck rather than working on it..

-When you can't keep up to old ladies on the freeway because of your gear ratio.

-When you try to blow up your engine by redlining it for a few minutes, then still get many more years of service out of it.

-When you bring an ice scraper with you for the INSIDE of the windshield while you're driving.

-When your gas "pedal" is a stub with no pedal

-When you can do a two minute burnout on bias ply tires and later not being able to tell which tires were on the back since the rubber was so hard that it barely burnt off.

-When your friends try to convince you to buy something 35years newer and you don't care to justify an explanation of why you won't do that.

-When you drive through a puddle and get wet even though your window is up

-When you hit a bump in traffic and your horn wont shut off.

-When you let off the gas every time you see a cop because your exhaust is far from legal.

-When you don't even think of masking anything off to paint something

-When your tailgate only stays up with a strap or bungee.. or wont even open.

-When your washer fluid switch stops working on a slushy day and you can do an emergency fix on the spot by wiring the washer pump to the horn switch.. (true story)

-When you gotta keep the window cracked so as not to succumb to exhaust fumes

-When the cops pull you over, it's because they didn't see your shoulder belt.. again.

-When you stop for a break on a road trip, you get out and your ears are ringing

-You fall through the floor of your box

-You can't copy your key because there's no teeth left to copy

-When you break down at home it's no big deal since you have three of everything.

-When your windshield wipers swing in opposite directions

-When you get in an argument with the parts guy about what year your truck is, and end up showing him the registration..

When you buy gas 4 gallons at a time because 5 gallons will reach the tiny hole in your tank.
When you carry an extra quart of every fluid your truck takes,"just in case"
When your girlfriend says "did you hear that?"
You just smile and say "Oh that? It always sounds like that."
If you have to explain how to open your door.
Pull in on the armrest, pull the door handle up, then bump it with your shoulder! Works every time.
