Re: 57 Step Side
Thanks to all, never thought after i started to weld up the holes that i would be back to paint.Time consuming and a pain in the #ss to do when the body is on the frame,i should of taken the body off again to do the repairs.Next time i guess, unless i dump some money on one of those new steel bodies i wished i had.Should do a fiberglass body so you would never have to worry about rust again !!!!

Re: 57 Step Side
Here is the FAM elec firewall diagram, with my notes on other stuff. Not marked are all the little holes for the rubber punch thru firewall pad holders. The three holes at the bottom of the curved portion are for the throttle and stock foot starter stuff. Behind the battery is a nut for the factory battery ground bolt.

Re: 57 Step Side
I guess all those holes in the firewall were factory holes as per that diagram and the ones in the cab floor where just different seat mounting holes through the years.

Re: 57 Step Side
Doing the fine work seams to take longer than the rough work,or it could just suck working under the dash!!!!

Re: 57 Step Side
I must have missed something here!!! That is one nice looking floor. What did you use? Is it tough? It almost looks like POR-15 with a texture. I like it. Keep up the great work.

Re: 57 Step Side
Plain old rustoleum hammer from home depot i used one quart.Welded up all the holes and ground them down some, clean it off and put one coat on.Paint is very thick so i had to brush it on,covered nice and sealed it up some what.I have dynamat to install over it so its good enough for me.Finish is texture and seams to be strong,i let it dry for two days before i started to work in the cab.

Re: 57 Step Side
Now the trick is to find headers to squeeze in between the engine and frame

Re: 57 Step Side
Looks great. The radiator looks like it fits nice. What model number did you get or for what car was it intended? Price?

Re: 57 Step Side
Just not paying enough attention.
I have these for my LS motor. Fits like a glove. In fact almost too good to be true. Didnt even need to get out the hammer. Hooker super competition. |

Re: 57 Step Side
They are full size. I got them off of a friend. They are brand new. Silver ceramic coated. The numbers on the flange are 2289 10 06. I tried looking them up but could not find them. Maybe a call to Hooker. Remember, they are for an LS motor.
I have my engine as low as possible and the center of the collector lines up with the center of the frame. In other words, they do not hang below the frame. The only issue I have is my frame mounted brake booster. I may have to bend an exhaust tube around it or may relocate it on the fire wall. Not sure. Was thinking about using hydroboost instead. Have heard a lot of great things about it. |

Re: 57 Step Side
Well i took a chance on ordering these headers and it almost work, steering column has to be cut like 3" and then i have plenty of room.Missed it by a 1/4 inch imagine that, well it will make the steering column look better anyway being shorten so it doesn't stick out as far.
