It would be a Cummins 6BT non-intercooled and VE pump. The non-intercooled actually put out more power than the later intercooled versions due to larger injectors.

2k is good for a Cummins at least for around here. And for 3500 i would just buy the whole thing and part it out.

Re: Duramax/cummins conversions?

It says it's a d250 with a 9ft flat bed dual rears with a cummins. It says 95k miles but real mileage unknown.

$2k would be OK if you can confirm it really only has 95k and not 495k.

Re: Duramax/cummins conversions?

Bring a compression gauge and see if the owner will let you test it. If not, that'll indicate that it has a lot more miles than he claims.

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/pts/3125755086.html that's the link to the cummins I'm going to pass on it I think I would rather do a dmax even though it harder and more expensive I haven't seen a completed one yet.

lots of complicated wiring is going to be involved, but would still be cool as an eskimo

All you need to do to run an Alison trans behind a cummins is change the bell housing from the stock one to a SAE bell housing. Cummins engines and all other diesel engines will have a SAE bolt pattern on the block.

Re: Duramax/cummins conversions?

I'm in the process of building a 12 valve/6 speed allison truck. Getting the chassis about wrapped up so I can set the can and bed on and start hooking things up. Used a Destroked adapter to hook the ally up to the cummins.

Re: Duramax/cummins conversions?

I didn't see where this has been mentioned yet but there are a few companies that make stand alone wiring harnesses for Duramax conversion. I think you just have to send in the old harness and they do the rest.

What's the most horsepower that you can make with a 12 valve and not hurt fuel economy. Only thing that concerns me about the 12 valve cummins is they're what... 150hp stock? If I ever considered the swap, I really wouldn't want to go DOWN in hp lol. Down from my 350's already low factory 220hp, to 150hp... I don't think I could bring myself to do it.

Not any more than a cummins, Or Isuzu's Duramax. The 7.3 was produced by International/Navistar, not Ford. Really you should be saying that about the Duramaxs' they come with cause at least International is an american company

Pacific Performance Engineering (I think?) will do just that. From what I was told, you can send them a hardness from your engine and they will basically modify it so that you feed power to it, and have a wire for the ignition to start.

Diesel power is not the same as a gas motor, power is made in different rpm ranges.

Yes PPE is one of them and then there is this company. I have been thinking about this conversion in my K30.
