Thanks a lot man!! I'll probably be taking my time writing it up. I've been thinking of breaking it down in to sections; electrical, exhaust, fuel system, mounts, trans, etc.

Where the small metric male threads transition to the hex stock put a 1/4" fillet radius there. It will increase the strength of the part tremendously.

It doesn't need to be that long either. Less length will put less load on the threads if you accidentally lean against it while working on the truck. It would suck to snap that thing off flush with the head. The closer you can get the sensor to the head the better.

If you can make it out of brass or aluminum bronze that would be much better too.

The stainless will need antisieze compound on it to keep from galling the threads and getting stuck in the head plus the galvanic corrosion from the dissimilar metals will cause the aluminum head to oxidize around the fitting possibly causing it to leak down the road.

Aluminum bronze or brass will only need Teflon tape as they are much closer to aluminum in the dissimilar metals range chart.

You could make it out of round stock and just put a set of wrenching flats on it to use more common scrap material.

I really don't think we can put a .25 radius in the corner. If I'm not mistaken the seal is made on the face of the metric end. Also, I think the length needs to be pretty close to what he purchased because the length of the original sender has to fit inside. I like the idea of using brass. I had thought about the dissimilarity of the metals too. It may cause corrosion in the future.

Man it looks, and sounds amazing. I love the chevy grill, and truth be told I bet many people won't catch that it has a bowtie on the grill, and GMC everywhere else. to you and your helpers man.

I gotta agree with ya John, but I don't really want to change all the GMC badging over to Chebby right now. $$$$! I am still thinking I will do it when it is time to paint him though. I'll probably just run a driver quality GMC grill for now.

On another note, my wonderful wife is on her way to Loveland and pick up the module for me. And I have just enough left to run to Autozone on the way home and get a fairly decent code reader.

Wow, I'm glad I stumbled on this build thread! I've had a 2007 4.8l sitting in my garage now for about a year that I want to put in my K5. Now that things are cooling down in my shop, I think the time has come. Not to mention the fact that the Goodwrench 350 is drinking a quart of oil every fillup.

One of my challenges will be flywheel/clutch combo to work with a SM465.

Grrrrr, TAC module didn't fix it. It's also giving me 2 codes for the sensor on the pedal. If I get really lucky, the refund from the fuel hose I sent back will be in my account in the morning and I can get one ordered from Rock Auto.

Kind of. It will still be red-ish, but I'm thinking it will be darker. Maybe much darker. Maybe darker to the point that it almost matches the carmine red interior.

Well, the news is so-so this morning. The refund did indeed show up n my checking account this morning, so I have the APP sensor on order from Rock Auto already via 2nd day express.

However, when I ran in to the shop this morning to grab my glasses off the tool box, there was a small puddle of antifreeze under the area of the right rear cylinder head. I think the S&P adapter is leaking. Didn't have time to check, but I'll bet that's it.

So, I'll wait for the APP sensor to get here on Thursday and give that a try. I was careful to remove it from the pedal before I started cutting and welding on it so I wouldn't damage it, but I guess it was either damaged before or...... eh, who knows.

Oh, I was also getting codes for the rear O2 sensor heater circuits, so I might have to send my PCM back to make sure they removed the rear O2 programming.

btw, darker red sounds sweet... i'm planning on a beautiful color called red jewel found on the tbss's. you should check it out. there's so many different shades of red out there... the new metallic red on the titans is amazing too.

With a connection cable and a converter box with your laptop you can read and reset the codes with some free software. I did it with my 03 Tahoe and it helped me diagnose an intake leak.

I got an email from mcbassin today that he has already shipped out the new replacement temp sensor adapter!! That guy rocks! Yeah, sooooo many reds to choose from!

BTW, this is the scanner I got. It's nothing like my old Snap-on MT2500, but it'll work for my needs. Plus I can just leave it behind the seat.

Mine is in the drawer, but I think I have the exact same model scanner/code reader. It works on all the vehicles I have except the 70 ( I wonder why ). It has been very useful, even to tell the Kia dealer things about the wife's car before it goes into service.
