Well, did some work on the tailgate a week or two ago and am starting to sand down the skim coat. Should have the face done hopefully this weekend and then get to the handle part and the backside. Here is whats been done thus far.

Going on about 3 years I guess...I can only do so much with my bad back though.

man its looking good..i know what you mean by a bad back,,im waiting on surgery,, and your right,,guys take care of it....seeing you do all this makes me feel as maybe i still can do this stuff, just not as fast as i used to...thanks for the inspiration...great project, and color is gorgous...i dont know if i would have had the nerve to sand off the fresh paint to redo the firewall....cant wait to see more of this...

I had L5/S1 fused and I am no better than I was before surgery. It did get rid of the shooting pain down my legs, but that was only a nuisance and not really a problem. At times it feels like they stitched a mini Mace ball into my back, lots of stabbing pain everywhere in that area. Okay, no more whining, back to the truck

I was able to start on the backside of the tailgate and get the hole for the handle cut. I need to do some bodywork to the backside before I install the handle, it is tedious work to get the insides nice, all the little reset panels make it very time consuming.

WOW... last update was in July of '07. Time sure does fly when your having fun (sarcasm). Long story short, back still F'd up, right hip now needs surgery to repair torn labrum and my damn left knee has been giving me grief. Body just went down hill after I hurt my back , oh well still alive.

I was fortunate enough to have my cousin come visit me for 3 weeks, he was out of work so it worked out great for me. He helped me to get the body work to where it is ready to shoot...minus the hood & grille. I was able to finally do some more work to the firewall and get that shot. I also spend quite a while on the motor and trans and shot them Tangelo as well, the trans looks awesome. The inside of the fenders were worked where I filled the side markers so they look like 67 fenders inside & out, then shot them as well. I need to do another paint session to shoot more of the brackets and such. Been on a mini spending spree and was able to finally get some stuff I needed to put everything together, lots of chrome and polished aluminum stuff. I went to the big Pomona swap meet & car show and bought about 17 pounds of stainless steal button head bolts, washers and nuts so I can polish them up (mass overkill but CHEAP, plus I love having extras). All of the holes were filled except wiring/fuse block, brakes, steering and speedo cable. I am going with a Lokar SS Braided speedometer cable to match my Lokar accelerator and kick-down cables, power steering and fuel lines and also my Lokar engine oil and transmission dipsticks. I am using the Lokar Eliminator accelerator pedal, Lokar column shift linkage and will eventually get their e-brake setup that allows the cable to run under the floor instead of through the firewall (hole is filled)

HaHaHa... Too funny. I wish the underneath looked half as good as the transmission.

Installed my trans pan and it looks awesome, I'll try to get some shots of it. I picked up a much needed distributor today off of Craigslist, it's a Mallory Unilite 4748201 that looks brand new for $130. Ordered coil and a couple ballast resistors so hopefully I can get that stabbed in here soon. Still have lots of work to do but I will try to keep the pictures coming.

Well, my cousins Jimmy and Phil left last week after spending two weeks here helping me get the truck on the road. After sitting for lord knows how long (at least 7 years in my garage) we filled the engine, trans, rearend and power steering up with Royal Purple, used a priming tool to prime the motor and she fired right up. Finished putting the fenders on and took it for a short maiden voyage, wow does this thing scoot. I will post pictures soon, I have more company until next week so after they leave I will post some update pics of the progress.
