I was an undesignated ABE. Bow cats. Only a year before I went to school for AME. My first duty station though and the Stinkin Lincoln holds a special place in my heart. It could be a tumor though. I should get it checked out.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

My '72 K20 will be getting a '72 GMC grille with a bow tie mounted to the hood. I like the divots in the doors, I will be adding steel door panels and a rear view mirror on the roof.

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

resurrecting a 11 year old post!

I'm partial to the '72 because it was the refined truck. Namely, it came with the modern moulded door panels (that oh-so-many earlier models changed to later in life) and the windshield mount mirror....and 75 less horsepower!

Also, I enjoy the "end of the line" models in general as its interesting to to see how the production numbers often increase, perhaps because of all the people finally pulling the trigger because they wanted the body style for the past few years not wanting that "square body thing" that was right around the corner.

For this is also the case with the 1969 Camaro and Firebird, the 1986 Ford trucks and the Mustangs of the same year. Growing up, my dad did the opposite and got the 1980 F-150, when I wanted the 1979.

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

It was free. Someday I'll find a bare bones '67 to mildly customize. If/when I do, I'd have to sell my econobox, since there is not enough room for all the vehicles we have now.

I like having the first and last of any production model,so for me its 67 and 72 and its really hard to decide between those two styles so one must have both no matter the reason.

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

Ill be honest, 68 was not my first choice when I was looking for a truck. I have always favored the 72's as that was the first 67-72 truck I rode in as a kid with my great grandfathers 72 Cheyenne Super. Plus I preferred the 72 because of the door panels, 5 lug wheels and factory power disc brakes. 67/68s were then always the next best looking. I liked the nose much better than the 69/70. I only bought my 68 because the truck was so rust free. Plus then it matched the 68 Camaro Ive had forever (my first car)

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

I would have gone 65-66, but my friend had this bouncy old '70 with dim headlights that we'd borrow from time to time, and the kids loved it.
Said it reminded them of the Indiana Jones ride.

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

So I used to love the 69/70s (still do) because they were like the 'ugly duckling' - everyone wanted a 67/68 or a 71/72. They've gotten much more popular since, but I remember people swapping front ends on them left and right to get a different year look to them.

My grandfather had a 68 I6/2 speed longbed blue that I never got to see, but have the old manual to, which made me slant more towards the 67/68s, and I was looking for another truck and really just kind of fell for the 67/68s... slant hood, no fender markers (67) and the very slick look that front end has really made me fall for em. Now I will say I do not like having to find 67 only vent windows, as it really is a difficult thing, especially chrome.

Still the same answer 11 years later. But, traditionally, my favorite was '71 for years. Disc brakes, lights in bumper, the last year for upholstered door panels, and the western motif CST interior gets a western name, Cheyenne (GMC already had western names). I like vehicles that are transitional, last and first year stuff in one. Yeah, I like '67s for that, too. Mostly, I liked 71/72s because they were as modern as the trucks that followed for nearly 20 years beyond and that's what I was driving

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

I had a 70 model in my teenage and early 20's but always really liked the 67-68 front ends better. Like my 67 for the front, no side markers from the factory, and mine has the 'panoramic' back window.

In reality, I like them all from 67-72. Some have features I like a little better over others, but can't go wrong with a Chevy or GMC from 67-72.

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

'67-'68 is my preference and I have one of each, along with a '70 and a '72....

I like them all but I never understood why the designers made such a generic looking grill for the 71-72?

It's like they were trying to come up with a design, lunch time came and they went to the freezer to get some ice cube trays out for their drinks and Viola!
"let's make it look like one of these ice cube trays" the rest is history.....
I wonder what they were drinking?

I love my 67 because it is mine. I liked my 70 because it was mine (wish it still was). My favorite though is a 68 anniversary short bed. Hope to own one some day.

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

I've only had two C10's, a 70 in high school in the 80's, and my current 68 that I'm doing a frame off. I had dreams about my 70 for many years, and I always loved the high hood and cross bar grille. But now that I have a 68, I really like the Chevrolet emblem spelled out in individual letters on the hood, and I think the 68 grille is the best looking grille of all of them, especially with the elegant trim rings. A modifed 70 tall hood made to fit a 68 grille with the letters on the front and the 68 grille would be the best of all worlds imo.
