What makes you like your year more than the other years?

As you know, our trucks were made in '67, '68 , '69', '70, '71 and '72. What makes you like one year more than another? If there is something you like from another year, do you plan to add it to yours?

I'll go first. I have a '69. I prefer my hump nose hood, more than the slant nose. I also like the grill on the '69 more than the other years. I like how the '72 doesn't have the big hood emblem, so I plan to remove mine, and have the best of both worlds.

My other reason for liking the '69 is silly. I like the number '69. It sounds cool, and telling someone the year of your truck comes up pretty often.

As far as something else I like from another year, I like those side marker lights with the rectangular light on top of the reflector, and I also like the placement of the "8 350" emblem under the front side marker light, and I like the more simple C20 side emblem, over the one that spells out the word "Custom/20"

Lets hear what you have to say

I have a 70 model. I like the door cards of the 72 and the front grill off the 67 ( I think). its the one with GMC in it.

It seems that 72's are very common, which is why I like 71's.

I like the 67 GMC! The slant hood, no side markers and 4 headlights with parking lights under the headlights.

Smile Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

Mine's a '72....I like the eggcrate grill best, the disc brakes of the '71/'72's, the door panels and the 'last year' of the series bit.
BUT.....the 71's are so darn close....I'd take either.
That said, I wish it ('72) came stock with a (slightly) higher compression 350 like the 69-70's...but then again I've never heard much about any visible power difference. Not that my truck suffers from keeping up but mostly just for the reference sake.
all good

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

Yep. The number 69 is pretty cool. As you can see from my signature, I have two

Chevy moved the big Bowtie up onto the hood in '68 and '69. That in conjunction with the 'Chevrolet' script front grill is what I like.

Great choice. I'd like the same thing in panel truck form.

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

I like the '67 swb stepper we are building, but it is the best of more than one year. The running gear is from a '71 with disc brakes. It is powered by a '74 454 backed by a SM-465.

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

68s have always been my favorite year, ever since I saw one at a car show when I was a little kid. I like the slope front end of the 67-68s, but I prefer having the big rear window and side marker lights. My dream truck is a 68 50th anniversary one but I like all 67-72s.

I'm a fan of the 68' because of the slant hood and grill. Here's before photo of my truck.

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

Gotta go with the '72. I'm a bit partial, because that is what I have, but for good reason. It's the first year the rear-view was located on the windshield, which makes it unique from the '67-'71. I like the grill, and front bumper running lights. Not sure if other year models are different, but I like the 'Custom Camper' script on the upper door pannels, if you have one like mine. All in all, I like them all, but I chose mine for a reason, as I'm sure we all did.

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

I have a 69 but in reality, the 69-70 is the least appealing to me.
I really like 67-68's best and all the GMCs.

Cool Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

I like the 71 because they were the first year for factory disc brakes up front. No other year can claim that! Plus it's the first year I remember riding in one with my dad.

My dad!

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

I got a '72. I probably like it the most due to the fact that my grandpa had one and then my dad. However as of late I'm starting to really like the look of a small back window '67.

Re: What makes you like your year more than the other years?

Im partial to my 71 because Ive had it 24 years last March. I'm 39 and it was my first vehicle. I was 15 and my Grandpa and I stopped to look at it, he bought it and I drove it home, with no license. I like the eggcrate grille and the super badges. Its in the middle of a frame off right now....

Thanks,
Yes he sold them for GM out of Everett Chevorlet in Hickory NC and Abernethy Chevrolet in Lincolnton NC. The little honda in the picture was a prize he won for selling the most trucks that year.
