Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Thanks guys! Feeling better and got some stuff done this weekend. My new problem is how to clean out my axle tubes. Full of rust and looks like ****! I don't really want to sandblast so i'm looking at other options.. any suggestions? Here's everything torn down.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Wonder if you could use something like a dingle ball deal that you could put on a drill and spin in the axles to clean them? Or some sort of wire brush on a long rod? I have no idea short of taking it to be hot tanked or something. Least you got something done this weekend. It sure was nice outside.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
To clean out axle tubes, I screwed a fender washer to a dowel and scrap them out the best I can.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
So here's what I opted for. Drilled out a 3" wire wheel and bolted on a long piece of threaded rod. Worked like a champ for only about $10. I'll get some more pics up when I get it cleaned up with new bearings and guts back in.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
No not an exact match. You have to use a fuel grade not radiator hose. You may be able to match it up if you have a real good clerk.. shm!
I got mine from LMC. Cheapest I found. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=49 |

Really was nice weather this past weekend wasn't it? I wished I could have enjoyed it more. Looks like you got a lot done.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Damn this cold weather!! Guys i skipped out on a bunch of pics but got the rear end P coated and all built back together. I had to slap it all together so I could get around in the snow. All new hardware, new rear leafs, new stainless steel brake lines from the union back. Gas tank completely redone with new sending unit, hoses and hardware. Also threw on two Thrush Turbo muffs and boy do I like em'! Seems like I gained an inch or two with the new rear springs. I got them from Auto Spring Co. in Winston-Salem, NC. Same amount in the pack just fresh with no sag I suppose. Time to do the front because Ive got a serious rake going on!

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
I was gifted with the sweet smell of antifreeze in the cab a few days ago... New heater core and put in a new speaker while I was in the dash area. The original Harrison was to blame. Boy was that a ***** job to do especially if you have an A/C car. I went ahead and ripped out all the A/C lines and compressor. I'll start to get that in order and replaced before it gets to spring. We got about 6" of snow last night so I get a shot of her in the drive.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
To be honest y5mgisi, I found my radio was the culprit when I hooked it all up. No sound coming out.. Besides this is the stereo model speaker and my radio is a mono unit. I guess I will be venturing down the road of stereos in c/k conversions next!

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
It has to sound better than the stock one that was there. Especially since the old one was wore out.
