Re: The Vandal. 1957 "Big glass" 3100 restomod.

hey kevinC from post 63, if you wanna make sure you have enough clearance remove the spring and shock and run your assembled suspension through a complete bottom to top suspension stroke. try it with the wheels turned each way too so you know the tires won't rub either. that's really the only way to be sure.

Re: The Vandal. 1957 "Big glass" 3100 restomod.

that nicopp is so nice to work with isn't it. its all lookin great bud. I saw that you mentioned fuel lines. all this week Ive been figuring out the fuel system and will be ordering it monday . I decided after much though to go with ptfe in stainless braid fuel lines, I'll let you know how it turns out on how easy ... or hard it is to work with

Thanks for the comments.

joedoh, i think they are 2010+ Camaro manifolds.

The NiCopp is nice to work with. I decided to use NiCopp 3/8 for the fuel line, with russell braided nylon hose for the flex ends. Parts are in the mail, I will have some time late next week to get it done.

Re: The Vandal. 1957 "Big glass" 3100 restomod.

Nice bender work. Do you plan some sort of insulator on the flex line near the lower link bar? In the pic it looks like it touches the bar. Maybe just the angle of the pic?

Re: The Vandal. 1957 "Big glass" 3100 restomod.

Dang, good eye. When I first read this I assumed it was the camera angle, because I mocked this up and ran it through the travel without a problem. Sure enough, when I tightened the hose fitting, it spun and wound up the hose. Fixed it.... Next time I pull the wheels off, I'm going to bend the tab a bit. That should give it more relief on the angle.

Moving on... I knew the holes on the brake pedal didn't line up, I've been procrastinating on fixing it. (4 years, haha).

Got out the welder and turned it up to the big boy settings. Fill'er up.

After grinding, sanding, blasting, and powder coat.

Installed. Temporary. The bracket will come back out for final paint.

After that, I got wifey to come out and pump the pedal while I bled the brakes. So far NO LEAKS!!!! Brakes are done, crossed that off the list!

That's a nice strong looking pedal bracket. Did you make that or purchase it?

Looking good. I’ll be using a bracket like that for my pedal. Thanks for the detailed pictures.

Re: The Vandal. 1957 "Big glass" 3100 restomod.

I made the bracket. In hindsight, I should have mounted the booster higher so the bracket doesn't hang down so low.

Didn't get much done today. I'm a few fittings short to do the fuel lines, so I started thinking about the exhaust. I welded the down pipes to the manifold flanges. I suck at TIG welding pipe.

Re: The Vandal. 1957 "Big glass" 3100 restomod.

Fuel system, done.... Except for the EFI fitting that was missing it's o-rings. Waiting for Edelbrock to replace them. 3/8 NiCopp for the frame runs, and Russel Pro classic hose for the ends.

I see you’re using some notchhead holders. You like them? I was looking at them myself.

Re: The Vandal. 1957 "Big glass" 3100 restomod.

never seen a steering column connected to an exhaust manifold before. I gotta get out more I guess, haha
nice clean work. keep it up. love those pics too. it gets me inspired to work on mine between other jobs.
maybe try to find a formed vac hose on the back of the engine, that way it won't rub the sheet metal. the fuel lines look great.

Re: The Vandal. 1957 "Big glass" 3100 restomod.

Jason, not worth the price. I couldn't use them on the line snaked through the frame, because there was not enough clearance to move the tube over the notchead to snap it in place. Had to use the p-clamps there.

dsraven, I will make brackets to mount the hoses to the transmission mount studs. Just haven't got a round-tuit.

Oh, and I'm still waiting for o-rings from edelbrock.
