No reminder necessary for me. I remember clearly why I got out. And I don't want anything to change around here.

Except maybe places to eat. I do miss the variety of restaurants. I knew where all the hole in the wall places were that were great. And it's slim pickings around here.

Re: Is Eldebrock toast?

We bury the fuel tanks on new projects for a convenience store chain. There are two c-store chains that are building stores like crazy in this area.

These companies are taking a big risk. If gasoline is going to be phased out, maybe they should put in some charging stations.

Who knows? Distant cousins, maybe.

GGF and GGGF lived around Heber Springs for quite some time. Actually, two GGF's to be technical. My dad's GF "disappeared" in the 1890s supposedly on some sort of stock venture trip, along with the other GGF. The widows and children moved over into OK afterwards, and of course my GF married one of the gals from the other family.

I think I got that straight! Sometimes I think about taking a trip down to HS and see if I can find something about what happened in old newspaper files. It's almost a "True Grit" story, only nobody followed up on it I guess.

Re: Is Eldebrock toast?

Heber Springs is only 15-20 minutes from where I grew up! My grandfather helped build the dam that formed Greers Ferry Lake. A lot of my misspent youth was near or on that body of water. I guess not totally misspent, there were a lot of cute girls around.

Both sides of my family are from that area and on down towards Boog. From the Mt. View area down to Judsonia. My fathers family came from England, through the Carolinas, and eventually over to Arkansas and Oklahoma. My maternal grandmother was 100% Czech and her parents settled in Alberta, Canada about 1918. From latest tally there are less than 3000 people in America with my last name.

Well, that makes it easier to trace your ancestors My last name is pretty common especially in some areas like South Carolina so you really have to make sure you have the same so-and-so.

If any of y'all has an urge to try to look some stuff up for me, send me a private message.

Re: Is Eldebrock toast?

I met Vic Edelbrock briefly a few years ago when he was local, doing some vintage racing. His daughter was also racing. Only a guess, but maybe he's ready to be done with it and she didn't want to take it over. I don't know if he has any other kids. But he was definitely old enough that a changing of the guard could have been in the works. And good for them, if it allows them to spend more time having fun on the racetrack.

Oh wow, he had some years on him when I met him after a race, but he was still racing a neat old Corvette. I figured he had quite a few years still to go. No wonder there're changes with the business.

Thumbs up Re: Is Eldebrock toast?

The first year I went on the Hot Rod Power Tour was 2013. They where all there signing hats and posters all week long at each stop. I had got them to sign a few hats for me the first day. Vic Jr his wife Nancy and daughter Camee, I think were all there. I can't remember for sure but it was one of Camee, Christi and Carey. A friend and I went to eat one night after the show and we went to a Mexican place. We went in and they where all there eating as well.
We still had our HRPT stuff on and they invited us to join them. They paid for our meals and drinks. They where a great bunch. I went by every day and said hello after that. The next year they where there and every year since. The last 2 years it's just been their daughter though.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Is Eldebrock toast?

I met Vic briefly at Pomona years ago. Just a hello and handshake type of thing. I believe that it was at the GNRS. He was cool.

I also met Boyd Coddington. He was one heck of a nice guy. I didn't feel that came off well on his TV show. But in reality. He was very nice to me. And I didn't even buy anything.

Re: Is Eldebrock toast?

So much of that "reality tv" is NOT REAL. Numerous former reality tv folks say just that. I did not like the way Boyd and that kid with the coupe buildup went. Blueboy or something like that. I believe that whole deal was designed by the producers, to build drama. Then again, Boyd may have been hard to work for.
Some of the 405 street racers say the drama in their show was made up as well.
Never met the Edelbrock family but I've not heard anything bad about any of them either. I wish them good luck with their relocating.

Talking Re: Is Eldebrock toast?

I had a co worker who was BC nephew. He said several times Boyd wasn't nothing like he was on the show. I never meet him but Bruce use to bring pictures of them together on vacations. He and his family flew out to Ca several times. He had pictures of him in several of BC custom vehicles.

I got to shake Chip Fooses hand and say hello in Ga one year at his show at year one. It cost me $100.00 entry fee! Oh I did get a autographed picture.

I had George Barris autograph a metal sign that hangs in my garage. Unfortunately he used red ink and it has faded out. You can barely see it now.
