Re: Another way to skin the cat; the High Torque 292 LS swap
May be too late for that up grade on the ECM, I will be happy if I can get the compressor to turn on and off!
I do have a trianary switch mounted to the drier and will need to look up the schematic to see how it is wired

this is exactly how an LS swap should look. I'm really impressed with the subtle fabrications you did. Great work!

Re: Mounts:
Would this be considered in the "stock" location or inch back etc?

Thanks for that, I'm not sure why that seems to confuse me... must be getting older.

Hey Dayj1,
Can you talk about how you set up the transmission and column shifter? Thanks |

Re: Another way to skin the cat; the High Torque 292 LS swap
Thanks for all the compliments!
The truck had a th350 behind a 350 when I bought it. It already had what I think is a CPP crossmember and universal column shift linkage (rod type). I reused both on the 4l60 and bought an overdrive indicator lens from speedway motors. Is that the info you were looking for? |

Wow love this build. I like how the motor looks stock. I'm sure people give it a double take at cruise nights

Re: Another way to skin the cat; the High Torque 292 LS swap
Every time this thread pops up, it makes me want to rip the 5.3/4l60e out of my old '99 that is just sitting there and drop it in the Blazer looking similar to this. Unfortunately, I have too much money wrapped up in a new SBC to abandon that course. I just love the look and functionality of this, maybe on the next one.

Re: Another way to skin the cat; the High Torque 292 LS swap
I need to start a build thread on it. But, at this point, I've successfully disassembled and scattered a perfectly good running truck.
This is what it looked like after I mocked up the suspension and just before I tore it down to the frame. And this is the current state of the new LQ4 in it now. |
