Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

man you truck looks great!!!!!! makes me jealous, LOL my truck is in MANY pieces. I have a long bed as well. A stepside long bed. i got lucky when i found it. IN 1968 chevy buiilt 319,xxx C-10 trucks. 204,xxx long bed fleetside, 93,000 shortbed fleet and step side trucks and only 18,000 long bed stepside trucks that is 5.8% of total built. I cant wait tol finish this rebuild. I keep geting much unasked advice. I have a 250 CID 6 as the original engine with 3 speed column shift trans. sincde it is all nos. matching, one will say keep it matching, next guy says no!!!, go 350 and R400 automatic!!!!
i think i will rebuild the 250 CID 6 but what do you think???

I appreciate that. Prices going up is great for me and it's good to know that my truck changed at least one persons mind about long beds!

My advice is build it to make yourself happy! Sometimes the best advice is no advice. Once you start really diggin in to this truck you may change things as you go along. Get a plan together now before you start putting big money into it. Just make sure that you have a build thread going on so we can all enjoy your pain!! hahha I would like to say, think about how this truck is going to be used. Highway miles are alot easier with overdrive and that is one thing to really take into consideration.

Cool!! Thanks for following along....and keeping up! The wheels need to see some sunshine, they have been locked away for a long time. Glad you found time to write a couple of lines on here, it's always good to have new peeps checkin out progress!

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

I was always a big fan of rallys but then all those shiny custom wheels came along and they got pushed to the back of the garage. I'm looking forward to seeing how they look once you get them mounted. They do say "everything old is new again" whoever THEY are.
Hopefully your tire guy can pull it off with minimal damage.

They look really good on the truck, but painted to match with some wide tires on the back they should look great. And I agree....make something new again! Sure the truck will ride a little better too.

It absolutely needs something in the bed, it just isn't up to snuff with the rest of the truck. I'll be watching do your's and hope I can pick up some good advise along the way!

I really hope it turns out like what I have in my mind. Still have yet to determine how to cap the end by the tailgate, but I'll think of something. Any ideas from the peanut gallery would be appreciated!

So I guess the color is gonna be alright? I hope that the clear doesn't make it darker, I want it to be as light as possible.

That looks great! I really like the graining of white oak. It will darken a touch with clear....if you want an idea of how dark and you won't be putting the poly on for a bit..get a spot wet.

Now that there is some good info. Thanks for the idea. I got some spar urethane clear and will be testing it out soon too. I will be brushing it on with light sanding between coats.

Finishing up buffing, polishing and waxing the whole truck. About 10 hours invested this time around.
