Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

I'm diggin the pods. I'm working on a fiberglass pair for my 59 but keeping the vents functional. After looking at yours i think i may have to redesign them. I also like how you removed the grab bar/ arm rest on the doors. Really cleans things up. Not to mention they're too small in my opinon.

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Well ....I bought a new project a couple of weeks ago .....But it's going to be a old school build no LS's for awhile. It's a 66 short box fleet thats more then half finished and just needs TLC and some finishing touches. It's still sitting on my trailer right now and waiting till after I can drive the 58....

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Well it's more then i can take.....lol...The windows rattle the doors shake and the rear view mirror vibrates. But the sound quality is awesome....i really like what has been done so far and i don't think the dial will ever go past halfway anyhow. The front pods really make a difference in the way the sound is directed....But it's still not all mounted correctly and i need to put a console in under the dash to mount the player correctly and do a final tune for everything. I am lucky in the tune dept, I have 2 guys that really know the theory and the sound levels. I couldn't tune it if my life depended on it....in fact when they start to talk about sound...they might as well be speaking greek i understand about every other word.....lol

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Well i spent the last few days helping to put together a AMX headed for SEMA....Don't get me wrong i don't have mad skills...I spent most of my time holding things while they were tacked....running for parts....and getting things ready to be put on the car.I think i actually passed some tools but don't think i ever turned one.......lol

But my harness should be in today ( crosses my fingers ) and i have a team or tomorrow to attack the 58. With any luck we should make some big progress I am trying to get it to be fired for monday....Saturday should be a very busy day...if the harness gets here

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Someone hooked up the power steering lines up backwards.....and there is power steering fluid eveywhere....it's not pretty...I hope nothing broke , we reversed the lines but i can't tell if it's still leaking or just left overs......

The shifter cabel is wacked and needs to be adjusted.......espically because it will start in any gear

It fires right up and sounds wicked.....but it only has about half throttle and even then if you hit it hard it shuts down....hhmmmm

It's great that it starts but sucks you're having trouble with it.
Hopefully it's something minor.

good to hear its running, you'll figure it out. Its problems like these that make you better in the long run. We've all been in that situation. Any chance of a video?

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

I had a problem like you described on one of my earlier LSx builds. We had converted an auto car to a stick. When you drove the car it ran super until 3000 rpms, and would shut off at that point. Our problem was the computer thought the engine was in "Park" so it would not let the engine rev past 3000 rpms. I don't know if something like this is your problem, but when you fix the "start in any gear" it may take care of this issue. Congrats on the new project!!

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Well i have had a bad couple of truck days.....So here is the list....If you look at my adapter we made to run the corvette intake just before the air cleaner there is a butterfly valve......so....the pedal was moving and telling the drive by wire there was more air required and to open ...and the valve was turning and hitting the 3" pipe and computer was shutting everything down. So once that was figured out we refabbed the adapter , the valve turns and it's wicked how sounds and runs.....thats the good news...

The bad news...
When they hooked the steering pump up backwards it blew the seals out of the rack.....it's finished now. I can't find a rack for it and am going to have to pull it out and try and match one up and that could take a while.....I ain't happy....

Te new brake booster/master combo.....well it has vaccum to to it but something i messed and the brakes don't feel like they are power and they suck....So going to try and swap another booster into it and see what is up....that combo should work with the 4 wheels disc brake combo and it's just not good.

I ended up with some kinda oild/fluid in my back driver rim and we can't se or figure out what it is....it's not the caliper....or a brake line...and the master is full....it's not tranny fluid so we still can't figure that one out just yet.

Now the angry..
I went to SEMA for 2 days because i wanted to get back and get it all up and running....it was sitting in my buddies 6000 sq foot shop....he has radiant heating...where the stck vents the heating...I guess it rained really hard and water went backwards down the vent and dripped onto my oak bed....It's all stained now and there is now easy fix for. If you have ever done a box you know what thats like. But this one is brutal...to pull it out the tank would need to be pulled....the battery boxes dumped....and then around the c4 rear end...in other words....it's a huge pain in the butt...There is no cleaning it....it's finished...and i am pi$$ed....

But i did drive it in a circle in the parking lot...where i stuffed the pedal to the floor and burnt a bunch of rubber....lol...for a few seconds. But it's still a bad day all in all.....and i am not a happy camper...I will post up some few pictures maybe tomorrow after i drink my way back into liking the truck....right now i want to kick it...lol

Oh and not sure the HP tune we put in it has the tranny shifting or working right yet either....

Re: 1958 LS2 with C4 front and rear

Wow your truck is sticking and moving on you. You need to stay heavy with the jabs and you'll find your opening. Knock that baby out, sometimes it takes 12 rounds but......... it will all come together. Be proud of what you have accomplished so far. Alot of people in this world can't even get this far let alone have the means to get this far.
