The problem I've seen on the full door style is the window areas never look right. The rear doors always look a bit too long and they tend to look like huge work trucks. Even using a short bed it will be a looong truck. Aren't the rear doors a bit shorter than the front on the newer crew cabs also?
My ideal was to get rid of the little window on the rear doors and even getting rid of the front wings in the front but from what I can tell from looking at the doors there is no room to do that with a small door. So I dont know what I going to do yet. Does any one know of some one using solid windows on these trucks or dont they look right?

Re: 68 Four door build

I suppose you could build a window frame using the back half of a suburban passenger side door, to the front half on the driver side. Not sure how you could reverse that though since there is no driver side rear door (yet). Could just miter cut and weld straight sections I suppose. I would think using a full front door cut off about where the wing window starts would look pretty good. There are kits available for replacig the door glass and removing the wings. Could probably use that with custom cut glass for the rear doors.

Re: 68 Four door build

The front door is no issue....I "think" there was a company doing the one piece rear doors also (One piece Products) At least 73-87 and were working on 67-72....not sure if that ever happened...since it's flat glass though shouldn't be "too" hard to do something custom with an aftermarket regulator (maybe power? )

If you used a larger rear door you're saying you'd square off the front like the burb rear doors? I'd have to see it to see how the scale would look and it depends on what size bed you're thinking and the ride height you're planning....maybe ask for someone in the photoshop forum to help you visualize it using one of the finished crew cabs with a burb as a reference...

Very little to up date but here are a few pictures. The last one is a pile that seems to happen every time I touch the truck.

Re: 68 Four door build

Are you going to do a high (suburban type) roof or keep it low like the trucks? What are you doing with the rest of the suburban parts? Let us know. Jenn & Jeremiah

Re: 68 Four door build

no, just front doors. Are you planning on doing the raised roof like the Suburban had? I know where there is a crappy suburban in Anza. I am not sure if it is still there now, but I can check for you. Let me know what you are doing with all the spare suburban parts also. Jenn

Re: 68 Four door build

The back of the cab is just a rough cut. Im thinking of leaving the bottom of the cab corners open like a new truck so there isnt a chance of rust.

If I use those new hinges I will just trim up the back of the new cab and install it in the old cab sence they are the same width and depth.
