I have heard that it is also stamped into the sheet metal underneath the VIN plate, but I have yet to remove one to verify this.
Other than that, and on the glove box sticker, there is no other place on the body. |

Andy,
i have 2 71 cabs, i removed the vin plate on both so that i can take them down to bare metal, no vin stamped in the metal behind there at all just flat straight metal and 4 rivet holes

I have a 67 chev and the same thing nothing underneith. but have it stamped in the frame in 5 places I found them all after I sand blasted the frame whitch is good you might find 3 but the other 2 you have to remove the whole body to find. and your glovebox tag (corect).and ownership thats all I know.

According to my local state inspector there are only two locations on the cab, the vin plate and the glove box door sticker. And only one place on the frame, top of the left front rail.

Call your DMV and ask them about legal removal. Let them know you are doing a restoration and want it to be 100% perfect. They may still tell you to go away though.
I had forgotten about the birthday sticker in the door. |
