any pics of front top to windshield frame bolts?

My Jimmy only has two bolts attaching top to the windshield frame, the two in the middle. On the corners I see two threaded holes in windshield frame and one hole in the top. Is there a bracket to attach the corners? Would love to see pics of what it should look like and advice on what order to tighten down all the top bolts on a new reattachment.

thanks

bolts go through the visor bracket. My best advice is try to get everything started first. bolting the top on was not fun!

Gotta agree with the alien! I ran a tap in the holes to clean them out and used anti-sieze

Those old phillips are a pita, so I used a stud with a SS acorn nut, helps with alignment. Then you can use the 2 windshield bolts to suck it in

Be real careful not to cross thread

Tighten them snug, plus 1/4 turn.
I wouldn't go crazy as the nuts in the top are molded in and are unaccessable without cutting if something goes wrong.

Here are what my bolts look like.

Hope that helps.

Re: any pics of front top to windshield frame bolts?

The order I tighten is like this.

1st..don't tighten ANY of the bolts down. Get them started by hand to make sure nothing gets cross threaded.

#1-Top goes on and I start all the bed rail bolts.

#2-Then the sun visor to top bolts.

#3- the center 2 windshield to top bracket bolts.

Once ALL the bolts are in and threaded at least a few turns by hand then I'll wrench them all down.

I start with the sun visor bolts then the center windshield bracket bolts and lastly the bed rail bolts.

Re: any pics of front top to windshield frame bolts?

That's awesome info BobbyK. If no one has said it yet, I will, this should go into the Blazer/Jimmy FAQs.

Only thing I would add is:

Are there any differences bt. the single and double wall tops? I know they mount differently, so are some of the bolts different ie: bed rail bolts. If there is, maybe someone that has those can add to this post so that everything is covered at once.

Re: any pics of front top to windshield frame bolts?

I'll bet it's to align things when putting the top on.

Depending on your body mounts, the windshield + frame can move either forward or back when the top is off.

Re: any pics of front top to windshield frame bolts?

I have 1/2 top.....and it doesnt line up quite right at the B post, about a 1/2" off. POput another windshield frame on it. So, I wasnt sure if he put it backtogether right, OR, my floor patch was a 1/2" to long

Easiest way to have a controlled pull was a turnbuckle, but it seems the w/s is correct.....now I have to cut my patch

Old thread, good info. Is the double wall top to bed bolts the same as the single wall?
