fuel tank selector Switch schematic
I have an 87 Silverado, and the previous owner bypassed(spliced) the tank selector switch wires together. I am trying to find out why. Does anyone have a picuter or schematic where the wires go on the switch itself. I found the switch and the connector behind the dash. I can reinstall them but do not know where they go.
Thanks |

Re: fuel tank selector Switch schematic
there was 2 types of switches for the tank selector.
one engaged when it was switched and the other just did contact when u pressed it. you can feel the difference when u push the buttons. the previous owner more than likely intalled the wrong switch and got fed up so he decided to splice the wires. |

Re: fuel tank selector Switch schematic
Ok put on the new switch, and seem to be working.... The truck rruns fine on the passenger side. I turn off the truck and switch the switch to the LH and put the key foward and does not start. I here the fuel pump on and is on while cranking. i have had someone switch the switch while i was underneath and the sides switch to thew respective sides whith the switch
I have replaced the switch and the tank selector valve because i had nothing before. the gauge moves now when i put the ignition foward and flip the switch i thought i was out of gas amd faulty guage, but put fuel in the drivers side and the guage moved. Any suggestions? I think it might be the pump on the left side, althouh i hear it running any way to check it out... |

Yes, thanks for the post. I thought i had posted the final fix for this, but i guess not.
The end result was when i wired the switch up correctly, i had 1 more problem to fix. I dropped the tank and found the fuel pump to be working, but the hose that was connected to the fuel pump outlet was deteriorated and was not connected to anything. I got new 3 inch fuel hose, and has been working since then.... |
