Wood beds in fleetsides.

I have seen some 67-72 trucks with wood bed floors, but most have steel. Is this a modification or was it an option when new?

It was an option when it was new. It states it on the SPID in the glove box.

Re: Wood beds in fleetsides.

FWIW; The 1969 "Truck Data Book" (Chevrolet) under "options and accessories when installed by chevrolet" says;

Quote:
Floor, Pickup Box: Wood with steel skid strips.CS-CE-KS-KE20934 models only.Standard on CS-CE21034 models............E81
Note; 21034 is the "Longhorn" option (8 1//2 foot bed).
