fan shroud ?
i just installed a champion radiator and still have a belt driven fan. i dont
have a fan shroud and was wondering if that would be a big issue with cooling. i did a test drive and held between 180 and 200. anyone running with no shroud and no issue with overheating? is there a bolt on shroud that i can swap in? thanks

Re: fan shroud ?
I have a 400 smallblock with an aluminum radiator in my shortbed. No shroud and it never ran hot with a belt driven fan. In the same range as you describe.

Live in Texas, stayed around 105-115 all summer and mine never got over 200 without a shroud.

Re: fan shroud ?
Just wondering....... My truck didn't come with a fan shroud, but I'm wondering if an original would fit my 64 truck? It has a later 350 Chevy small block. The radiator appears to fit as original, but would the fan on a 350 engine be centered in the same spot as the original 283?
Haven't had the chance to see what it's going to do in warm temps, as I just recently got it on the road after restoration...... highs are now in the 30's. Thanks. |

Re: fan shroud ?
Two questions arise are you using short or long water pump, and are you using rear engine mount holes in crossmember will dictate where your fan resides. In other words how far is your fan from radiator? Mine is rear mount holes short water pump three inch fan extension, 6 blade fixed fan.
