Dash indicators? Burnt/melted?

Hey guys, not sure what these are so I will include pics. Truck is a 66 gmc.

Left side, toggle switch on bottom, I think is for the blinkers? What did the stock one look like?

Right side, here you can better see the red colored things that appear to have been melted? What are these? Are replacements available?

Re: Dash indicators? Burnt/melted?

Turn signals are normally mounted on the steering column. You should see a slot for the lever just behind the wheel on the left side. ive never seen a toggle switch used for turn signals, as they normally are in the on or off position and turn signals would require two ons and an off. The red lenses you should be able to get used off someone here, I dont know of anybody repop'n them.

Re: Dash indicators? Burnt/melted?

Hello Loud-

My 66 Suburban has a regular turn signal stalk to the left of the steering wheel...

My dash bulb covers are also 'burned out'... I forget what someone else said, but top left is left turn signal, top right is right turn signal. One of the lower ones is the generator light. Not sure of the other- I'll check old posts.

Good Luck!

the "lights, wiper, choke" labels are... quaint I will say! Sorry, I am new to the sport, and am learning the ropes on my 66 chev, good luck with the GMC, love to watch your progress

Loud-
This was a reply to my question a while back:

Dash lights on single dash models are as follows: Generator upper left (Lights
up when ignition is turned on, goes out when engine runs and generator
charges.), Hi Beam lower left (Goes on when headlight high beam is selected with
foot dimmer switch.) Low Oil upper right (Lights up when ignition is turned on,
goes out when engine starts. Buzzer sounds on some models. If tell-tale lights
up when truck is operating, investigate!) Turn Signal lower right (Flashes on
and off to show that directional signals are working.)

Re: Dash indicators? Burnt/melted?

mtruckr is correct....
Chev and GMC differ in the idiot light/turn indicator department.
The lower right green lamp indicates turn sig...blinks the same way wether you're using left or right.
I guess the GMC engineering department figured we were sharp enough to tell which way we were turning..

BTW, Loud...
The problems that can cause melting of those lenses are ....
#1 Wrong Bulbs...(too many amps)
#2 Voltage Regulator Failure (usually, more than about 13 volts is too much. Often that will also start burning out the smaller dash bulbs.
