So what do you do with an OEM 69 Z28 hood?

CUT IT UP!!.. Sorry purists... Alright.... I will admit it was a bent and rusty one destined for the scrap heap so we decided to cut the cowl part off and see how it layed out on a 68 truck hood.. WOW.. I could not believe how it fit...

Since I do not really care for the cowl riser section on the aftermarket 67/68 cowl hoods I decided to start cutting away.

Well after about an hour of measuring, staring and pondering I tack welded the cowl riser to the truck hood, drew a guide line down the sides and the front, then started cutting away with a die grinder! Both pieces at once.

I did have to make a small slice on the rib at the very front and pull it down a tad and had to shorten up the overall length about 2 inches. I used some panel clamps to keep it all aligned and tacked it all the way around. Violia!! A home made cowl hood.
I was amazed how easy it all came together.
