Tailgate mounting help required
As you know I posted some pics and info on my tailgate, anyway I tried mounting it on weekend and cant seem to find the items required to mount it on the bottom that will allow the tailgate to go up/down
I suspect it needs to be like a spring loaded round bar to allow it to be pushed in to allow mounting of the tailgate... Thanks

Re: Tailgate mounting help required
Bolt up one hinge, put on tail gate. Put hinge on other side and bolt up. No spring that I'm aware of.

Re: Tailgate mounting help required
Thanks Daddy Brim,
But mine has holes on both ends as if a rod suppose to go inside.... Looking at your gate it sort of slots from the top mine does not... I can take close up photos to show you.... ![]()

Re: Tailgate mounting help required
sounds like someone may have played with your tail gate previously, but the pictures that daddy brim show are correct, no springs or rods, just a cap on each side that it rotates on

Re: Tailgate mounting help required
when these trucks where imported to mexico they sent them over with out the beds so they would only get charged export/import fees on parts rather than a whole vehicle, and then they put on a bed they made in mexico which was different. so i would suspect they did something similar to canada. unfortunately there really isnt a lot of info on those, but everything else about the truck should be the same as the US

Re: Tailgate mounting help required
the US stepside beds are done with a round slug with a tapped hole in the middle, which you put into the tailgate and then put a bolt in from the outside. they give you a whole at the bottom of the gate to attempt to hold the slug in place while bolting to it. that one is a pita.

Looks like there might be a thick layer of "Bondo" on top of the bolts.. Hard to tell from the pictures.. but it sure looks like it..

Re: Tailgate mounting help required
No worries Mark.
I see there are 2 holes below that big hole, do you think I would need a bracket down there to mount the tailgate? What confuses me is I do not know what that big hole is for....

Re: Tailgate mounting help required
Hi ZUBZ, Dan 67c10rustbuket contacted me via PM about this post, since your C/10 seems to have similar tailgates like ours (Argentina).
I have no information about in my books, and mine is a C/30 flatbed, so no tailgate, but a friend of mine owns a 76 pickup and he help me to get you a few pictures of the part used in Argentina. You can see it has a big hole on top, and two small holes on the bottom. I hope this helps.

Re: Tailgate mounting help required
Sorry, no part number. I guess you will have to do it yourself.
Even here in Argentina this part is impossible to find.

Re: Tailgate mounting help required
Thanks 77 for the info, however my question is more relating to the template of the hinge, I showed the picture to an engineer but he said if I can get a template of the hinge and some measurements it will be a lot easier to feed this into his computer program so that we can fabricate the item.
