HEI distributor - where are the model numbers located?

Hey all, I've got an HEI distributor in my '67 6 cylinder pickup and wanting to order parts for it.

Does anyone know where they stamp the casting number/model number.?

I'm wanting to buy a cap and internal parts and would like to know what year the distributor is from.

Truck is a '67 but I'm guessing the HEI is from 70's.

It's stamped on the side of the base. Just below where the cap sits.

If it's at factory HEI casting model it 1975-86, since you have it in your 67 betting it a 75-80 year if it's factory casting model. You could have one of the factory 74 pre-version HEI conversion not as good. The guts deferrer for motor and option's of distributors. But 1975-86 HEI distributor casting case are all the same for your motor span.

All I can offer is if you have an external coil 6cyl HEI, that came factory on a 1976 250cid Nova.

Re: HEI distributor - where are the model numbers located?

1974-77 will have the external coil seven post cap.

1978-on will have the coil in cap setup with six posts on the cap.

The inline 6 specific parts are the body, advance, shaft, gear, cap, rotor, reluctor, and pickup coil.

The in cap coil D221 condenser/pigtail is the same for the V8 & inline 6.
The in-cap coils should be the same.
The in cap coil ignition module should be the same.
