WTB: 60-62 half ton spindles and brakes

Throwing this out here - if anyone has done a disc brake swap on a 1960-62 c10 and needs to unload the original setup I have a buddy that could use it. He's got a 62 C20 that im helping him convert to half-ton running gear and keeping the drum brakes isn't a problem. Thanks!

Re: WTB: half-ton front suspension

My small understanding is square front suspensions bolt up with a few new holes drilled.

They will bolt in with a little work. I did that on a 60 frame and gave away the old front end. Now I'll be doing a 61 so I'll have an extra front suspension. I hate crushing parts someone can use.

If you’re willing to ship just the spindles and backing plates that would be a start…i hear that hubs from a 63 and up will fit the spindle and have roller bearings so I’d want to update to those anyway…

I would be willing to ship, I haven't pulled the front end yet.

I have the front cross member, a arms, center link, spindles, actually the whole front suspension for a 73-89 gm 1/2 ton. It has 5 lug rotors.
I was going to use it to convert my 65 that is on a 62 frame to disc brakes.
I have had some health issues come up and I actually have my 65 for sale. So my upgrade isn't going to get done.
You can have it all with the sway bar for $100.
I'm in Oregon City, Oregon.

I’m sorry to hear that you are dealing with health issues. That sounds like a smokin’ deal, but for many reasons I’m looking for the half-ton 60-62 spindles and drum brakes instead of a full crossmember swap. We are also looking for a set of 6-lug stock steel wheels.

Thanks for the offer!

Re: WTB: 60-62 half ton spindles and brakes

Thanks for the kind words.
If you're looking for 60-62, does your buddy's 3/4 ton have torsion bars for the front suspension and you're wanting to go to the 1/2 ton 60-62 torsion bar front suspension?
I'm not as familiar with the 60-62 3/4 ton, but is it an x-frame?

Correct, it’s the original x-frame with the torsion bar set up. Ball joints are the same part number for 3/4 and 1/2 ton trucks, but I think the outer tie rod ends are different…should be a straightforward swap though. He’s got a 6-lug rear that he’s planning to put in it so we need to swap the front to get a matching bolt pattern.

Re: WTB: 60-62 half ton spindles and brakes

I have 60-62 1/2 ton spindles and hubs if you're still looking. By the way roller bearing hubs will NOT seat properly on the early spindles.

That’s good to know about the roller bearing hubs. I’ll send you a PM…
