I use a well known shop called Phoenix Transmissions. They're the guys who built the trans for that magazine project, Old School, in last months Classic Trucks Magazine, and they have ads in pretty much all the big car magazines.

A full rebuild and upgrade is about 800 bucks. That includes a custom built torque converter and tons of upgrades. Also gets you a 3yr unlimited warranty.

My last one was 795 carry out. No labor to R&R it in that price.

A garage rebuild by a local guy usually runs about 300 bucks nowdays.
