3 speed standard to a TH350

I want to replace my 3 speed standard with a TH350. I believe I have all the parts, Trans, starter from a car with a powerglide,modified crossmember with trans mount, cooler, and linkage. The only thing im not sure about is the flex plate. Is it 13 inch and if so will any chevy 13 inch plate do the trick. I asume the automatic has the same bolt patter to the block. Any help or advice would be appreciated I have a 230 CID 6cyl Thanks

Hello our64. There are 2 popular Chevy flywheel sizes, the 153 tooth and the 168 tooth. The 153 tooth starter has 1 long and 1 short bolt with the bolts in line, and the 168 tooth starter has 2 long bolts in a staggered pattern. Either one should fit the 230, just be sure the flywheel has no large balance weights on it(small block 400 and 454 flywheels). Also be sure the flywheel has the right bolt pattern for your torque convertor. The TH350 will bolt right up to the 230, as long as it's the Chevy pattern and not the Buick/Olds/Pontiac pattern(there were some 350's made with both patterns). Some 3spd transmissions were the same length as a short tail 350, but I think the non-synchronized 3spd has a different tail shaft spline, if so you'll need another yoke. Hope that helps.
