Dion, I'm guessing a 750 Speed Demon or maybe 770 Holley Street Avenger or even a 3310. Wouldn't it be nice to try a carb out before buying it?

rebuild the Qjet and throw on an electric fuel pump as well as the mechanical. That way you have a LOT of fuel going to the carb, and the mech pump can act as a regulator. It'll give you driveability, insane WOT response, that kickass howl that you only get with a spreadbore at WOT, and plenty of power.

I'd go with a Demon carb. We put one on my kid's Dart, and it works great. We got ours from Don Gould at www.4secondsflat.com He sells them for the same price as Summit and gives great service.

if your looking to make power go with something thats not an edelbrock they are fine for drivers but just arent tuneable enough for anything performance wise. you will make your most power with a holley for a heavy truck the 3310 works great

Edelbrock makes an 800cfm version of their Carter AVS wannabe. Put 650cfm jets in the primaries and leave the secondaries as is-good top end, crisper on the bottom end.Of course, that's just my experience with a 70 Burb with a 406 reject flat track motor.

Based on your combo, I would say the Holley 700 cfm #4778 would be a good choice. This is a double pumper, but with your combination, fuel mileage doesn't seem to be a priority and throttle response will be instantaneous. I would stay away from larger cfm carbs, and the vacuum secondary models. They are great for economy, but nothing beats a properly sized and tuned Holley.
... Just my experience - adjust accordingly. |

Good info guys, thanks. I've been thinking about the Demon over the Q Jet but the Speed Demon is for cams with .240 or under duration so I'd probably have to go with the Mighty which is $500, ouch!
I'll contact BG techs and see what they say. Thanks again, Dion |
