Electrical help- fuel gauge
When I put a test light on my pnl fuse I get no current. I'm not getting current to the fuel terminal either. I just installed a new sending unit 2 weeks ago and the gauge worked great. I also installed a new wire from the tank to the fuse block. My question is what is the terminal under the fuel terminal for?. My test light will light up when I touch it but it's not marked. Any ideas why I wouldn't be getting juice to these 2 terminals ( the one marked "fuel ga" and the one marked "pnl lts"?. All of my other circuits light up fine when tested.

pnl lts will be hot when you turn on your parking lights. use this position for clearance lights, guage lights, or step board running lights.
Try hitting the fuel guage terminal with a digital multi meter before you go any further. If I rmemeber, it was only something like 5 volts on that terminal or something. |

Andy, I will try that. Do you know what the open terminal under the fuel gauge terminal is for?

Update- Yesterday I found out that little terminal under the fuel terminal is only "hot" with the key on so I tried hooking up the gas tank wire to it and the gas guage went up waaaay past full. So I put the wire back to the correct terminal and the gauge went back down to 1/8 even though it has almost 10 gallons in it. I touched the fuel terminal with the test light and that was the ONLY circuit where the light was dim. That makes sense since you said it was only about 5 volts. This leads me to believe my brand new sending unit might not be so accurate. . As soon as I get the brake lights fixed we will take it on it's maiden voyage to the gas station and fill it up and see what happens.
