Who has the best deal on these I'm planning to sell the truck so I don't want to spend a ton. Just looking for a 2/3 drop.
Thanks

Summit, GMC Pauls, Classicperform.com all seemed to have a good deal in the other recent drop threads

last i checked these dudes were on a special www.classicheartbeat.com If you are just trying a quick stance sell, torch the front and all you will have to do is buy back springs! Just dont try to sell it to anyone here cause it is not the honerable thing to do!

We used stock Jeep TJ rear springs on my buddy's 72 SWB. Rides nice and smooth! Lowered the truck about 4 inches in the rear.

I know Tim had the springs and spindles at the truck nats in PF Tenn, but I did not check prices. He would be about the closest to save on shipping. Just make sure to tell him your a board member when you call to get the best price.

Im really suprised that most places that sell coils for our trucks dont tell you anything about then except "stock, 1", 2", 3"" ..... seems strange that guys wouldnt want to know what brand spring they are installing on their truck ..... it seems to me youd want to know what your paying for? Anyone ever had any trouble with any particular brand? Sucess with another? |

It doesn't really make much difference. Some places make their own. I think Early Classic Enterprises does. Your truck probably isn't going to drive like a sports car unless you put a 'vette suspension under it.
The cheapest way is to cut your old ones (not torch). I think I've heard 1/2 coil = 1".

Im still not 100% sure i want to go this route. If i drop my truck like mentioned above what else will i need to do to have it done right? Will i need to replace the A arms for proper geometry or would i be fine if i only dropped it 2" w coils? Ive also seen shock relocater kits for dropped trucks and was wondering if i would need those as well? Also, i want it to handle as good as possible .... would a rear sway bar help? What else am i missing here? I'd really like to get more info on coilovers, if anyone has done a swap to coilovers please post your thoughts on them. I think ive decided to stay away from bags. I know they would probably ride better than a set of dropped springs but they seem like ALOT of work to install and maintain and i have no intention on setting the truck on the frame or anything like that so with me just wanting a normal drop they seem liek too expensive an alternative but again ..... im open to your thoughs on this. |

You will need to relocate your shocks and you will need an adjustable panhard bar too. I have coilovers on my 71 but I think it would be hard to get as much drop on the rear as you want with the coilover setup I have!

ECE, CPP, etc. have kits that work together. They include all of the parts to do the drop and keep the geometry of the suspension correct.
I agree on the shock relocators and the panhard bar. Sway bars make a big difference.

I used the complete ECE 6 inch rear drop kit. It included every single nut, bolt, and washer to do the whole rear of the truck.

ECE=Early Classic Enterprises; CPP=Classic Performance Parts
There are links to all of the vendors on the site home page (not the message board home page, just remove everything in the address bar back to http://207.44.196.117/) The kit I got from ECE was all inclusive except the sway bar which you can find in a wrecking yard.
