69 4x4 price

i have a kid who wnts to buy my 69 K-20, for 3200$

it has a new motor, 355 w/ edelbrock cam/intake and carb and new dual exaust with flowmasters. and a 4 speed with dana 60/and 44 with the T-221 t-case.

theres no rust on the cab corners/rockers and the box needs a drivers boxside because of the dent in it. the truck also have a tach gauge cluster

does this sound like what its worth? i dont really want to sell it but could use the cash...but wont sell it for any less than its worth.

I bought my 69 K20 for $1,750 and thought I got a great deal. I would say $3,000 is pretty reasonable for what you have listed but the Dana 60 definitely raises the value to some people as they are hard to find - are you sure it s a Dana 60 rather than the factory Dana 44?

The main thing for you to remember is it is getting more difficult to find the 4wd's and definitely the 3/4 ton 4wd's. If you will want one again, I would not sell, cause it's gonna be hard to replace.

You got any pics of it, that would help. Its doesn't sound like its in bery bad shape might be worth more.

Yukon, he meant he has a 60 rear and 44 front...hence the 60/44.

I would agree though, it sounds like its worth what you're asking, if you want to sell. I like my '69, but I am gonna end up replacing almost everything on it by the time I am done.

here are some pics of it the day i bought it. it shows the original cluster but since has a tach cluster.

it runs and drives so good, thats why i dont want to sell. my 71 runs just as good but needs alot of work, cab corners, rockers, etc. i just think i should sell the 71 instead of this one, i'll never find another nice 69 3/4 ton 4x4. i mean if i sell it for 3200, or what ever, i want to be able to get another one in the same shape. otherwise theres no point in selling.

I think $3,200 is a great price for you, I think it's more of a $2,000-2,500 dollar truck. But as with anything it is a matter of opinion and worth what someone is willing to pay, it seems pretty clean, and in my opinion you shouldn't have any trouble finding anothe fairly clean 69 4x4 for $3,200.

update... although really old post i thought i'd update it.

i was reminded of this when i talked to a friend the other day...

i ended up selling the truck for $3200. then 4 days later the kid calls me and says "the motor has a nasty knock"

so i ask... "have you been using granny low all the time?"..."no, i start out in first like im supposed to, it goes to about 20mph.. and then its wierd going from first to second... i think it needs a new clutch to"

so i go on and tell him he probly rapped the motor to high, reving the piss out of it going to 20mph in granny low every time he drives it. anway then he wants to sell it back to me. anyway... this truck was in real good shape for what it was, bascily new drivetrain, the motor and clutch were only 10K old. since then ive heard about him, and the truck from a friend theat somehow knows him to, and i guess he had the motor "freshened" and is in the middle of having it converted to an auto. lol i guess he couldnt handle the 4 speed

it just reminds me how stupid some people can be.

i payed 4200 for mine but at the time it had new motor and new paint job and body looked nice, new tires etc. since then its been almost 8 years and having to totally redo now. must of been ok deal on mine as drove at least 7 of those years without having any probs. i always take off in 2nd in mine but its got 4:56 gears so first basically useless.

i once tried 1st gear in a traffic jam, but it was a pain when i shifted to second then the traffic slowed back down, so I couldn't get to first unless I double clutched. i think you would be able to use first gear on the road regularly if you had 44" tires and 3.42 gears.

D60 Rear axle.

1st gear doesn't have a syncro, so I think it would be a pain to shift in and out of, its built to be started in 2nd gear anyway.

Do Not sell good trucks to Dumb Kids!!!!! I did same and never heard the end of it!! The Kid had every friend in town with his ideas and hands in it and the truck was setting parked and not running in about three months!!! I had the truck for 10 years and it never failed me! I guess some wise cracker convinced him the firing order was all wrong and then rewired it the " right way"!!!
I told him good luck and happy truckin'!

i would, but that 69 had the rockwell t-case and 2 piece driveshaft, and truthfully i'd rather have an auto for normal use, but a 4 speed also has it good points.

i should have just kept it. then i'd have a 71 4x4 daily driver, and a 69 4x4 3/4 ton for towing and as a work/spare truck.... but somehow i just couldnt turn down $3200 for a truck i paid $800 for.

i just need to get another one!
