starting winter project

i`m removing the cab from my old 71 lwb, which was in excellent shape. i`m bringing it over to my swb frame. do you guys have any ideas on a good way to do this? i`ve included some pics, and the swb is covered up in the background but is a roller.

I Have Heard Some Guys Talk Of Building A 4x4 Post Type A-frame
Through Your Cab (w/o Doors) & Then You Can Just Roll The Lwb
Frame Out From Under It And Then Just Push The Swb Frame Into
That Same Spot And Lower It Back Down.

I generally use my work truck for this type of job it is really handy or try a 2 - post hoist, it worked really well for me as well.

Here's how I managed to use my engine hoist to remove the cab:

Used the seat belt buckles/straps, and a strap bolted through the front cab mount holes. Lifts a little uneven, but two people can get it done this way really easily.

Here's how I did it... an old swingset frame (homemade) and a couple winches and pulleys. Works for cabs, boxes, engines, etc...

yeah i got that thing in the garage. i`ll have to take a picture, i have it touching the back wall, and my riding mower is wedged between the front bumper and the garage door. oh, i forgot to mention the 18 to 24 inches on the sides i have to work on it. i REALLY need a new garage and i think tax time i`m gonna lay a slab and start building. the blazer is gonna be on the back burner for awhile since it needs cut/weld work and the truck just needs thrown together pretty much.

Tractor/loader with a strap around the roof. I was afraid it would hurt the drip rails, but we used a 6 in tow strap and it worked fine.

I used a pair of Genie lifts like the A/C contractors use. Two guys, two lifts, no pain way to lift the cab. The lifts catch the cab under the rocker panels and you crank the winch on each lift to pick the cab straight up.

got some more pics on this forum from this weekend, removed power steering and front suspension, cab is ready to pull next weekend. i built a rack out of 4x4 beams with 2 2x10`s tied at the top. i promised my daughter a swingset and that`s what it will become when i`m done, eric.

The 4 buddy case of beer method is my suggestion.People will do anything for free beer

just call them and ask them to come over and have a beer, and then act like it coincidence that they all show up at the same time, but while you are here would you help me Always works
