Progress

This is taking a lot longer than I thought it would. But that's no surprise at all.

I've got the body work nearly done, and it'll be getting paint as soon as I can figure out how to get the damn adhesive tape off the box. It's that crap that held the side molding on. Two strips of white ****e. Anyone know of any cleaners that will desolve this stuff without eating through the box?

Anyway, here she is so far. That driver's door is garbage. So much bondo. The only areas that went through are in the rear lower corner and a strip around mid door at the bottom. Thankfully there was still enough steel to keep the line. About 1/8" of steel, but enough to do the job. :p

Man, that thing is coming along in a real hurry!!

Keep up the good work

My truck has gotten nowhere since you last saw it less an engine swap and some dual exhaust with headers. I'll bring that carb back to you after I eventually break that cam in. I'll also bring you a hubcap or two

PS -- About getting that adhesive off, apparantly there is a grinder attachment called an eraser wheel or something that takes that stuff off without damaging the paint.

Eraser wheel, eh? Yeah, I'm going to need one of those.

As for the carb, it's yours man. I'm trading it for the hubcap. Oh, you took my wingnut, bastard. Or maybe not, I don't know. All I know is I couldn't find the orininal one and couldn't find one to fit for the life of me. Eventually I just took one of the wrong ones and 'rethreaded' it. (read, crammed it on until the thread on the nut matched the carb)

Um, a motor/exh/header swap sounds like you've been getting somehwere.

Looking good man!

Are you going to re-paint it blue again?

There are many adhesive removers on the market. Next time you go to the auto parts store, check and see what they have. You may even be able to find them at any retailer as well (Wal-Mart, K-mart, etc..)

Thaks man. I'm going with the ocean blue on the grille and HL bezels. It's a GM colour too. I couldn't actually find the fleet blue that the truck was already in.

I got some Goo Gone, but I don't think it's doing anything. I'll try an auto parts store though. I just got this stuff off some random rack at Canadian Tire.

LOL, that wingnut has been quite handy, cause I lost the one for my truck, and I couldn't find one either, lol!

And yeah, while the new motor is leaps and bounds better, it still has an odd bug I gotta work out, and I gotta do some work my exhaust, the collector to header joint is leaking on both sides, the disk that spins on the headers is bent, so I can't get a good seal. I'll have to see what I can do to get it straightened out... Exhaust certainly does sound nice though

But yeah, as far as not getting anywhere, I mean I haven't gotten anywhere with my bodywork... I dread having to do it, lol

I don't blame you. There's nothing worse than being covered in dust night after night after night after .......
