Blazer tank help
My son & I are putting a blazer tank in his 72 lwb. We have to notch the bed cross member for tank clearance, I am wondering if we need to weld a piece in the cross member to box it in or will it be strong enough ? Mike

Post a picture so we can see which one you mean. If it's the thin one next to the one at the very back, you can just cut it out.

Truck is gone, wife isn't. Nuff said. |

I cut my bed just enough that the tank would fit under the crossmember, but that there was still some crossmember left, and left as much on either side as I could as well, so the bed still sat on the frame, I haven't noticed any problems at all. There are a bunch of crossmembers close together back there, so it should be alright. Keep in mind this was on an 80 GMC though, your earlier truck may be different.
