Anyone updated there front discs on a duallie 71 or 72 1 ton to newer years rotors, calipers etc...what problems or things should one know? How about the older 67-70 one tons duallie to newer discs?
Do you need upper control arms or such? Rod

i think you need all the same parts just like the 1/2s.i think the 71-72 rotors are the same as the newer trucks 73-87

ROD..... I'VE GOT A WHOLE FRONT CROSSMEMBER ASSY. OUT OF A 1985 THAT I PLAN ON PUTTING UNDER MY 69 1 TON TOWTRUCK, WHEN I REPLACE THE 350 WITH A 396. HOPEFULLY THIS WINTER. THE 85 WAS A BIG BLOCK TRUCK, SO I GOT THE M/M TOWERS, STEERING GEAR BOX ALL AS AN ASSY. SHOULD MAKE FOR A GOOD UPGRADE.

I replaced the stock 12.5x1.25 rotors on my 72 Cab-n-Chassis with '77 12.5x1.5 rotors from a "CamperSpecial 10,000lb" crewcab. I reused the A-arms, replaced the balljoints, and bolted on the new spindles. No tierod alterations. The spindles are completely different, but still bolt on. I did end up running new stainless brake lines and braided hoses. The calipers are huge!
I used the hydroboost, too. During a major panic stop last year I was able to lock the front tires, and that's with a Camaro on the bed!

Ok so its the calipers, discs and spindle I need to grab... would you know if they used the same bearings.....hmmm....well I guess not if the spindles needed to be changed.
I might be able to grab a 77 Grumman van set up myself.
