Intake manifold cleaning

I am getting ready to change over to the stock intake and carb. I got a intake from a junkyard. It needs cleaning up.
Need some pointers on ways for a do it yourselfer to clean it up to intall it.

Any suggestions, or advice?

Thanks
Tommy

if it is really greasy, soak it down with oven cleaner then pressure wash it. you will have to repaint it, but it will be very clean. If it is not extremely greasy castrol superclean works pretty well.

I some of the ports are caked on. I have been taking a knife and screwdriver in there to scrape the junk out of them.

Do have any machine shops around your area? Most will take the oil splash pan off the bottom of the intake and hot tank the intake and reinstalled the splash shield for 15-25.

A tub of warm diesel fuel and dawn will clean a lot of gunk off pretty good. Still works good without being warm but sometimes that just cant happen to have it warm.
