Project Truck

This is going to be my winter project, a 77 SWB. MAYBE Ill get it done by summer. Its basically just a chassis(wheels, brakes, all still together), and cab w/doors. The fenders on it are too far gone to be saved. I have 2 more fenders to go on it, along with a stepside bed. Basically Im using parts I have laying around to put it back. It has no engine, but when I do find one (not sure what size yet) it will be rebuilt to stock specs. So that should only cost me $300-$400.

This truck is in our junkyard. I really dont need another vehicle, but Im putting it together to try and save it. No need in letting it rust away. Ill probally do the same with other trucks we have, when Im done with this one.

Thats my kind of project. Only concern I would have is the condition of the brakes and suspension parts from sitting.

You wouldn't happen to have the filler neck and plastic adapter for a stepper with a passenger side fuel door would you?

I can probally get the brakes up enuff to move it around while I build it, and even enuff to drive it up the road and back when its done. But im sure it will need new brakes if I put it on the road. The supsension seems ok. Springs are strong, bushings seem to be in good shape.

To be honest, I have no idea. Since my truck had a fleetside bed (then my grandpa put it on his 4x4), I decided to go with the step side. So ill have to find another neck and all for mine. Ill be digging thru the sheds here and in the junk yard looking for one for my truck...and If I happen to run across another neck and adapter ill let you know. As much stuff is laying around here, I wouldnt be suprised to find more then 1.

These are 2 trucks that I will be building and keeping after the 77 is done. The 54 needs a engine and body work..but really isnt that bad. Even tho im not going to start on it right now I am still gonna pull it up to the house and prime the doors down again...as you can see they are rusting again and need attention fast. The 58 is a lwb. The bed is rusted away. I have a swb chassis and will put the cab on it, along with a swb fleetside bed. I have 3 front clips for a 58-59 ill just have to see which one is best and use them. There is a 54 GMC down here that I may use as a project in the future when these are done. However it would have bondo all over the top to try and fill in the pits from surface rust. Its has been primed many times to try and keep it from rusting, each time rust comes back thru (since its sitting down here). The pits where there when my grandpa got the truck, so too late to stop them.

In that 77 Custum Deluxe, does it have the interior Custum Deluxe emblem? Or is it gone?

I see your in SC too, where about if you dont mind saying? I'm looking for a 73-87 SWB chassis only as a starting point for a frame off of my '78. That way I can still drive it while its getting freshened up!

No. The has nothing of the interior left in it. However I may could find you one if you need one. Is the Custum Deluxe emblem for the interior on a 77 different then any other year model? Or does it have to be for a 77? I dont know a whole lot about when they changed emblems or what they changed them to on these year model trucks. Im used to the older ones. I might could find one around here somewhere tho.

Im outside of Clover SC. York County. This is the only 73-87 SWB Chassis we have down here (think we used to have another but sold it). However, if you are needing it then we could work something out. All you need is the chassis? If so id like to keep the cab and other body parts. Id planned on building this truck, but if you need the chassis then ill just save these body parts, fix them and find me a rusted up one later to use them on. Because i was gonna have to find a title for this one anyway, since it didnt have one.

Like I said, id planned on building it...but if your in need of a chassis we can work something out. I aways have the 54 or 58 I can use as a project right now .

I dont need it, but I'm wanting one b/c I switched out my LWB to SWB by cutting the frame. I wanting to do a complete suspension rebuild and thinking about bags now, and I was thinking it would be lots easier to just start on different already SWB frame (no worries about it breaking) and work on that as time/money allowed. I would just want the frame with front suspension and the rear suspension. You could keep the cab, brake stuff and rear axle.

Send me a PM with a price or something, I have some parts I need to get rid of too..

Paul

Yep, that looks almost the same as mine when I started. I wish I had that '54. I also wish my step fenders were in as good of condition as the ones you have too. Good luck with it...corn
